I don't think I have seen this before, but it looks like this coin went from Heritage to teletrade in a months time. Be interesting to see what it goes for. It seems a couple of the IHC's look familiar to me. I know the other 1862 MS64 cac coin I have seen somewhere(Ebay or Heritage) - the shield is memorable. So if you paid 2645 at heritage, what would it have to go for to break even on teletrade? I guess the coin could have changed hands and someone was not happy. I just thought this was interesting - usually I catch them going from heritage to ebay. I would like to talk to the owner(s) to see if there was a reason for this. Makes me wonder. Going to have to keep an eye on the auction.
TT is more of a retail outlet in my mind than a true auction... My guess is that the owner is simply floating it out there in the TT store to see if he can make a few bucks on a quick turn in that venue... if not, then I wouldn't be surprised to find it on the 'bay with a BIN of around 3.1k.
Good point! I was thinking the owner found something he(or she) saw wrong with the coin or they did not like. I usually see them go from heritage to ebay - the first time I really noticed this.
In general, a consignor pays fees whether their coin sells or not. The moral: don't overreserve your coins.
