Daship, I run into the same coins... they're cool but not worth anything (who'd want a circ. proof?) ;) anyway, where in the world do you dump 15,000 fifty cent pieces?!?!?!?!?

1982 with no mint mark is the only other thing that I can think of

Also, some have found these in circulation, the 1996-W. Proofs are also good to find as well.

The 1996 W.....but I wouldn't hold my breath on that. For dimes, I basically carefully look at edges and pick out silver and look at new ones. I check for AU or better 2009 dimes as I have sold them for a premium (yes, circulated) on ebay.

I did one box about 2 weeks ago, and found 1 1953 Silver Quarter.

Strange box today.....I ordered a box from a bank that I had not done so before. I get it, and it is one of the long narrow boxes with the yellow S&Sons rolls. But, this box it taped shut.....I took it only because it was a new bank. I open it and it has CWRs in them.....they just took someone's dump and taped it shut!

So, I start doing what I never do and just look at the edges and dump them in my bag instead of look at every coin. On the fourth roll, there is a 40%er. So I start checking all coins.....then, I start getting S&Sons rolls, then back to CWR, then back to S&Sons. What a make shift box. About 1/3 of the box was CWR....and one of them was short one coin. However, the box yielded 6 total 40%ers and one proof...

This makes me tempted to go through one box in a few weeks, to see if I have any luck.

    KevinFred,

My dump bank is pretty good about taking halves. They have coin counter. This week I brought them donuts, since I had so many coins. They had a guy that stayed with me and changed out the bags, when they got full. I go on Saturdays when they aren't busy. They even make a copy of the receipt for me!

I don't think I will order 8 bags again! That is a lot of weight.

Pic of what I took to the bank and the receipt below:

How can you tell the coins are silver from looking at the edges? newbie here and never heard of it

It's harder to see the copper on the silvers...clad coins you can usually see nickel/copper/nickel(or whatever the coin is composed of) and silvers are usually just silver

so basically if you look on the edges the clad coins will have the orange-brownish color like strip, while the silvers will be just solid silver looking?

    WoW Gypsy !!

I just came from the Las Vegas coin show and a dealer there was buying at 26x, selling at 28x on the silver coins.

Got skunked on my last 10 rolls of dimes. Did about 15 rolls of cents from the latest box I got yesterday and there were only 12 copper cents ! Tons of 2010 Ds and several 2000-09, buit copper got scarce ! Much less any varieties.

    gary
