I just picked this up. I think I got a good deal. What do you expect to pay?

Melt as it looks ruined by the oven to me.

I would pay melt value. Imo, that coin is artificially toned, sorry.

The first red flag for me concerning this seller is that all of his coins look the same. They all look blatantly AT to me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't cartwheel and toning two completely different things?!?! I seem to notice people using them synonymously a lot, especially on eBay. To me cartwheel is when the luster makes the light dance around the coin like the spokes of a wheel. Please call me out if I'm wrong.

You are absolutely correct. Cartwheel is the effect a nice original silver coin with strong luster will show.

This thing, as others have said, is AT as hell. Return it ASAP and blacklist the seller.

  16. Coinsnake, you are correct. The cartwheel is the effect created on a newly made coin, or one that is still in that conditon. Toning basically is a form of corrosion, but is looked at positively, because it doesn't necessarily mean "damaged"

It is a shame that there are so many people out there trying to alter original coins into something else... Before the baking that would have probably been a halfway decent Morgan..

Thats what I was thinking, but I returned it two days ago and got a full refund. Then I started a post on the ebay forum about this clown

    • Which is why this and all his other coins are in basement slabs.
