Just went through my first box of halves. Don't think I did to badly; one 68, two 69s and a Centennial silver proof. Which beats a box with nothing in it. Also found a couple of 2004s, a 2005 and a 2009. Will plod along with these finds while hoping to find my favorite, Franklins.

I have a question. I want to get a full box of halves and go through them, but my concern is what to do with them after I am done. I don't want to take them back to my bank because I don't want the tellers mad at me, so what do you guys do after you have searched a box?

I am bringing mine to a different bank that has a free change counter that I have used before. There are two branches in town, I am going to alternate between them.

    What bank?

I ask because if you have two branches in one bank, I can almost assure you that the managers communicate with one another relatively frequently.

Zions. People have changed in large amounts of halves there all the time, I have seen the bags and they have one dedicated to halves. Won't sell it though. The counter is in the lobby so the change doesn't go through a teller. Just bring the slip up to a teller and they give you cash, or deposit it to your account if you have one there.

Never doing halves again. Went through $250 worth and didnt get any silver. Pulled 3-2001, 2-2007, 1-2004, 1-2006 though.

Lots of halves in that bunch with marker wrote all over them?!?! Kids

I searched a box of cents today.

Only 7 wheats....most were pretty beat up.
    6 Canadians

Also only averaged 10% Coppers (Pre-'82). What a crappy box. I did a box earlier this week that was about as bad. Might switch back to Nickels atleast I get plenty of pre-60s in every box there.

Also asked my bank about ordering halves. At first he was saying he doesn't like to b/c no one wants them, then said that to order them they get charged $50 per box? I know he's bull****ting b/c he doesn't want to deal with me. I would think they would just add it to their change order, but $50 for a box of halves? Do you really think banks get charged that amount per box???? Oh well I will try the other branch. If they aren't willing I will be considering a different bank to hold my accounts as there are tons of banks around my area, so I have plenty more options.

LMAO. There's no way they get charged that. I think it's usually like 1% or 2% of the total change order, which would be like $5-$10 per box.

Just picked up a roll of Canadian loonies at the bank today... in it was a John Quincy Adams presidential dollar, my first!
