The banks I went to today are all small town banks, they only have CWR and BWR they dont want halves so they dont order any in. If you bring them in loose they will wrap them otherwise they take ones I wrap or ones I have gotten from other banks that were CWR without makin me open them. I guess it depends if they know you by name like they do me!

I have $60 worth of BWR of dimes and $40 worth of BWR of nickels to go through. You guys say you pull everything 1960 and older of nickels also? I always put them back if I dont need them for my folders! Anyone want the ones I find and dont need?

  4. For coins you're trying to sell, put an ad up in the Auction Listings, not under a thread please. Thank you :)

Went to pick up a box of halves from one of my banks today and the teller said "I have something for you that you'll like." I assumed she received the Andrew Johnson presidential dollar coins since I recently started buying a roll when they come out. She then said "I have $243 worth...they are the big ones." She pulls out a bag of Ike dollars. She pulled out a couple of "plated" ones (what's the correct term for those?). I am going to pick them up tomorrow and see what I can find. Up until now this bank hasn't seemed to be a dump bank for anyone because I'd know through the head teller.

Oh boy was I incredibly lucky today...

I had planned on searching through $500 in quarters today but at the first bank I went to, I asked if they had any halves and the teller said she had two rolls of them. I ask her to open one of the ends of one roll and tell me the date and she said "1953." I knew that there was a Franklin in there, so I decided to buy both rolls. When I opened them up, I felt like a kid in a candy store:

Out of $20 in halves, I found:

    *7 40% (Dates were 1967, 1968-D, and 1969-D)
    *1 1964 Kennedy

    And, get this...

*21 Franklins! I found a 1949, 1949-D, 1950-D, 1951, 1951-D, 1951-S, 1952, 1952-D, 1953, and 1953-S in there. Some of them are quite beat up, but finding this much silver for face is truly astonishing.

Only thing that happened to me today was I was about 20-25 bucks short when I turned in $1850 in dines today. Dang counter said I had quite a few pennies. Funny cause it was all dimes.

Good box of cents today, plenty of Wheats and some older ones... no hole fillers, though.

And one dateless one that is heavily corroded.

    13 Canadians, including a 1941 George.

    BU '63-D, '64-D, and a nice end-roll toned '74.

I am so jelous! I will buy $10-40 in rolls from B of A (only bank that EVER seems to have them around here.) and they always skunks! I am thinking that MAYBE it is a dump bank after all because there are always '71 and Bi-Cententials.

Round one today was $80 in halves... nothing. Later in the day I stop at another bank. Asked for ikes and halves, as normal. She has some ikes... cool. So I get the them, 15 of them. She has a roll of halves, so I take that also (nothing). Then says "I want to show you something and do you have an account here". I say "no, I don't". Then she says "I sell you these to silver halves but I want you to open an account. I take the two 68's she has in her stash and them go talk to the account guy. He said I could order boxes if I want... so I think I will finish opening the account. Two 40's got me.

I picked up a banded box of nickels yesterday. The teller had the box sitting on the ground under her cash drawer and was more than happy to get rid of it. The box was a beat up older SAE box and I mentioned to the wife when I got in the car that it was probably sitting in the vault for the past six years. I said, "Watch it be full of Bisons". When I cut it open later that night...it's full of 2005-D Bisons. :)

I figure I'd go on a treasure hunt and see if maybe there's a speared in there somewhere.
