You think it's a good idea to post your coin collection?`I think this would be a good idea becuase you would be able to view everyone's unique collection. What do you think?

Depends on how valuable. Some people are not comfortable in posting thousands of dollars worth of coins. I just started out so I don't have anything that would target me for theft, knock on wood. But I'm still in the middle of trying to organize my collection and get my style of collecting straight so I wouldn't post for a while anyway, if I even did in the first place. I'm sure there are plenty of people here who would post, and plenty of those who would not. Depends on the person and the collection I suppose.

Depends on how you posted I guess. If individually, it would take me longer than I'll be alive to photograph and upload every coin I have. Not to mention, I'm pretty private about what I have as assets, not only in coins but everything, and only share that info with a few.

I have most of my early collection photographed and posted on Facebook for people to look at, buy my girlfriend is the only one who has seen it in its entirety in person. My parents don't even know what all I have. And I'm like coleguy, it would take me forever to photograph everything I have. All the valuable and pretty stuff is photographed and thats probably how it will stay. I don't care to tell people what I have since I keep it locked up at an undisclosed bank location, but if I had something really valuable I probably wouldn't.

As a member of the NGC and PCGS coin registries, and a winner of an NGC BEST PRESENTED SET, I absolutely think it is a good idea.

The registries are a great way to catalog and organize your collection as well as to share your passion for this great hobby with fellow numismatists. I just wish more registry participants would upload photos.

I've never started a registry set, but I like to look at them when member here have posted and have to agree. Why bother with it if you don't include photos?

I will only post pictures when it is relevant. To much of a good thing is just that. It would be like everyone posting their vacation pictures. After awhile they are not appreciated as much. Besides that, I'm not looking for bragging rights and I am a little bit of a loner about certain things. Conversation I would share all day.

I have to post coins from my collection! I have no other outlet to show them off or get comments! My wife hates them, and the kids don't care. I don't have one friend who knows or cares anything about coins either. So thats why I post so many dang pictures on CT! Coin collecting for me wouldn't be nearly as entertaining if I didn't share them with this community. :|

    gbroke;
That's a good thing. Some of us are not as socially gregarious as others. That is why we are a coin community. We participate at our level of confidence and need. I was referring to my personal feelings. Many of my activities I can totally enjoy by myself. From time to time, I do share however.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, has seen my entire collection but me. Even though I posted a photo of the collection once, that was not everything...

1970 Silver Art Silver Art Bar Collector

I do post a few pictures of silver art bars that I bought recently because I like to share information about the silver art bar hobby and posting pictures of a few art bars in my collection helps me express my love for this silver art bar hobby. I am not going to post my entire collection of silver art bars on my silver art bar thread but I just plan to continue to occasionally post a few random silver art bars that I bought recently. It would take me too long to take pictures of all of my silver art bars in my collection.

Even though I post silver art bar pics and write about collecting silver art bars on several forums, I do not feel comfortable talking about my silver art bar collection to anybody in person. I do not discuss my silver art bar collection with anybody locally and nobody locally (except the coin dealers that I buy silver art bars from) knows that I collect silver art bars and I intend to keep it that way.

I agree with this 100%!!! My friends aren't interested, most of my family isn't. The only person I can think of that appreciates them is my dad.

Keep on posting! I've been following your threads quite a bit lately as you and I both are working on the 7070. You've had a bit of a head start but I definitely enjoy seeing what you're placing in that album.
The only person that I really can share with is my dad. He understands what I'm doing. My wife looks at the stuff and says "that one's pretty". Other than that, there's no one.

This, except don't have many banknotes but 20k+ coins, not counting bags of silver, pennies, and nickels. It would take me quite a while just to post ancients I own that are worth more than a few dollars.

I collect to learn and appreciate, not necessarily try to show off or parade any around. Hell, it makes me nervous enough that the postman knows I get numismatic magazines in the mail, I don't need to post any holdings.

I have a few pics posted on my albums here and also on Omnicoin.com. I don't show my best pieces tho, it's alot of work to keep up with uploading new acquisitions but I try. :D

My personal collection of Indian, Lincoln, Errors, Exoneumia cents, and Conder Tokens is posted on my website with photos by Todd Pollock at bluccPhotos.com. He has been able to capture the pretty toning and uniqueness of each coin, which is what I look for when choosing each piece for my collection. And I agree that it's a lot more fun being able to share your collection with others who can appreciate it as well!

I enjoy posting pictures occasionally, and also enjoy seeing other peoples coins. I've found that learning to take pictures of my coins is fun and rewarding... it really adds another level to my numismatic enjoyment.
