Ugliest toning ever

This person must've introduced mold to this. If you like this, you can get mad at me. But I believe that this is FAKE. I wish this seller can take the toned coins (almost everything this seller sells) off the market, so that people can't be fooled.

Why on earth does it say:

This current craze of "toning" baffles me. Often what I see described as "toned" in some of these listings is just another word for tarnished.

 

The toning craze has been going strong for almost a decade now, but you are correct, toning is another word for tarnish. Having said that, this example is not what toning enthusiasts collect. This is a bottom feeder E-Bay seller peddling his horrible AT creations to coin newbies who don't know any better.

 

Looks like a Kennedy half I had after using MS-70 then soaking in a little dishwashing soap , but at least my Kennedy was uniform that coin is plain ugly .

That is exactly right. Just one of many. This Gettysburg Quarter is just proof that you shouldn't sort coins when you're eating blueberry pie.

I collect "some" toners however, this one burns my retinas. It is truly ugly!

 

personally i do not like toned coins even if they are genuine, i will only buy one if it is the only example of that coin availlable at the time, but i will always look for a better example, the toning craze has bred lowlifes like this one to feed off unsuspecting new collectors much the same as the con men in the UK trying to pass 25p crowns off as £5 coins to new and overseas collectors. toning is certainly a massive craze in the USA but in europe and the UK we would much rather have uncirculated or natural pantinated coins than toners any time.

forgot to say, it is really strange that none of my USA coins are so severely toned, perhaps mine must be fakes.................lol lol lol

 

Wow... I wonder if those crappy looking spots on both the obverse and reverse come with the coin, or will there be an extra charge?

The seller, chicky55 is nothing but a cooker of coins. EVERY single coin she sells has been baked in an oven. Look at her other items. If you want the same resutls, lay a bunch of coins on a cookie sheet and put them under the broiler for 20 minutes. Whats worse is people actually buy them from her.

 

If you do decide to purchase this coin, be sure to wear glove when handling it. Oh, not to protect the coin, but your hands! Who knows what kind of caustic chemicals a guy might use to make something new look that old!

 

The sad part is that FleaBay allows this sort of thing. Why don't they put a rule in place similar to the "Slab Rule"? In that, the seller cannot advertise the grade in their title unless it is slabbed by a top TPGS. In effect, you could not claim that a coin is a "Toner", "Toned", "Monster Rainbow" or anything implying toning (you get my drift) unless it is certified by a top TPGS.
