I have seen some of their Ads in the leading Numismatic Publications . As far as how well they work with customers, I can't say .
That's the store I usually go to. I mostly like the people there and I feel like their prices are fair. They have two locations, Naperville and Aurora. I feel like the Naperville location has better selection but I like the atmosphere at the Aurora location better. They are more laid back there and it's not so busy. They'll have some things they won't let you do at the Naperville location that you can do at the Aurora one too, like browse through their junk silver instead of buying it blind.
Interesting, Thanks for the tips. They do not have the junk silver bins at the Naperville store? I noticed they had different priced bins in Aurora.
Let me give you an example: I was trying to complete a set of silver Roosevelt dimes, and I went to the Naperville store. They had a junk silver bin with Roosevelts and Mercuries, but they wouldn't let me search for dates. They told me I had to just buy a certain number and hope I got lucky. I didn't like that because I was buying to complete a set, not amass a silver collection. So I go to the Aurora store immediately after I leave. They just hand me a coffee can full of dimes that I can look through. That's the difference. They are more laid back and accommodating at the Aurora branch, and the guy who seems to be in charge there, Christian, remembers you and what you are interested in. The Naperville location is fine, but I think they get more business and the owner spends more time there so they are a little more strict about some things. But they offer you free drinks and are always courteous so you can't really complain about either location.
These are the types of feedback that just make me cringe . The bottom line though, is you have to first give them an opportunity to prove themselves worthy or un-worthy of you business . So, you have to get your " beak " wet and test the waters . AS consumers, you must remember that ultimately it's your responsibility to try and make any first impressions , a good one. So it is with the " Business " . If you have a problem, unless you make the Owners aware of it, ( in a professional manner ) it's not going to get any better.
I know the guys at Fox Valley Coins. Great guys! Fair to do business with! Either location will be a good place to buy!
I had a feeling you would know a little something about the area. You have a high post count. I assume you know quite a few people in the numis industry
Their strength is in buying and selling gold and silver of any kind,, modern commemorative's, recent and current mint sets, common and less expensive collector coins and supplies. There weakness is moderate and high grade collector coins, paper currency, world and ancient coinage and reference materials other than the standard guides. They do run several auctions per year but are relocating these out of their Aurora store to an undetermined location.
