Strike Doubling? Found this while looking for WAM's. At first I thought I found one as the FG seem to be really close to the memorial but there doesnt seem to be much of a gap. But I did notice streaks leading to the NE of everything, What would have caused this to happen? Same coin as above just another angle, same question. what caused this too happen. Thanks in advance!
PMD? definitely. Drier, maybe. Strkie doubling? I would guess yes, but not my area Lamination? No. That coin has been plated. Minor scratches/nicks will cause the zinc core to corrode. Streaks? Again plated. It looks like the planchet preparation was poor and the plating separated or bubbled up.
Thanks for the quick reply. Can always count on rlm for straight and too the point answers. I really appreciate the info and it helps me learn a little bit each day of what things look like. Thanks again!
Interesting just googled trail dies, seems to match the description. But does that make it a coin worth keeping or is it considered nothing more than poor plating and is worthless?
Ask over on this forum: http://board.conecaonline.org/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=-1&f=3 Be sure to post your picture. My experience has always been that each coin series has a sopecial niche of collectors that may or may not be interested. Variety collectors are the same. I've yet to come across an Trail Dies and would simply keep this one.
Thanks for all the help, I deleted the two PMD pics and just need to find out if the first image is MDD or possibly a DDR? Anyone have any thoughts on it?
