I've always been curious about that. I actually work for a bank but on the corporate side, (They don't let me anywhere close to the money!) I'll have to check into that. Supposedly, it was from her personal collection "at home" but, I've seen numerous tellers that had silver in their trays but wouldn't release it because they were saving it.

BTW - Sold 110 Ikes on Craigslist for 135

Some decent boxes of halves for some of you...nice. Picked up my Saturday box and also got 4 loose halves from the teller...2 were 40%'ers. The box yielded ZERO silver. Figures.

    .
I believe they could be allowed to purchase coins or currency for themselves
What I am having a problem with is one selling or offering to sell from their workplace. This certainly seems to lead to a conflict of interest. Would you please check on the employment contract and tell us what you learn ?
    Thanks,

I will look into it. I'm going to be out of the office for the next three weeks so, It'll be a bit before I get back to the board on this one.

I searched through $30 in CWR and in one of the rolls, there was a coin with a gray edge, so I thought it was silver. It turns out it was a 1973 5 Bolivar coin from Venezuela (my first South American coin ever). I don't know if it was meant to be a trick for a roll searcher or not, but it was a huge disappointment.

At a nearby coin counting machine, I managed to find some Canadian coins (a penny, a nickel, a dime, two quarters, and a toonie), as well as one coin each from Aruba and Ghana (how the heck the Ghana coin ended up in the U.S. is anyone's guess).

    A twoonie! Nice find.

    Where are you looking?

I'm looking around the Hartford, CT area, generally.

In that case, good luck. A twoonie is not so uncommon in the NE, I've found a few. If you had told me you were looking in the gulf states, I would have been surprised.

If you're in CT, order more boxes of halves, CT seems to get the most silver in the NE.

I ordered a total of two boxes of halves in the last several months, they were both skunks. What makes me not want to search halves again is that it's such a pain to dump them; I have to roll them back up and go to different banks and deposit say, 20 rolls at one branch, 10 in another, and 10 in another. Maybe I'll try another box soon to see if I get any silver at all. The silver I've gotten the last several months has been from teller's trays (5x 40%, a 1951-D Franklin, and a 1946 Walker).

CT should have TD banks... take it to them and dump it there?

2 dimes (57 & 50) in a box, plus (out of 4 rolls of cents) a nice 47 wheat cent and a 70S cent that I'm trying to figure out if it is a small or large date.

    Update: looks like large

Back to the grind... was gonna get some dimes, but I had to leave some cash in my account to pay my bills tomorrow... gotta deposit this $1k in halves I've been sitting on since Thursday.

I have an account with a different bank, so I can't bear the 6% they charge for non-account holders. Of course, I could open an account there...

Do it. Savings account. Throw $100 in there. Toss an extra $5-$10 in every time you cash out.

I do the opposite and deposit $20 into a savings account with a different box when I pick up their orders for me.
