Would you put something like this in your collection? This is really close to what the coin looks like in hand. Add light from an angle and it really changes.
Your darn tootin' Id put it in my collection. Tho I primarily only collect Canadian, Id still love to be able to showcase that.
I ask myself the same question since I'm putting together a type set (and not worried about matching a date set). I'm assuming you're also not worried about matching this to something else and simply like the coin. Maybe the only answer is to buy a dark coin such as this one and live with it for a while. See if and how your taste evolves from there. BTW, this one's a beaut, but I also have reservations when coins such as this one look better under pinpoint light than in normal, ambient room light.
Yes, indeed. That is a gorgeous coin. With darker coins, I generally feel that there is less of a chance that they've been cleaned, so I take patina as a plus.
I personally would pass. That toning is getting to the point where it may start damaging the surfaces... if it hasn't already.
Of course! My only problem would be that hit at 12:00. I get distracted by things like that in MS and AU coins easily, though
The toning makes it look like a proof coin. Anyday, I would buy this, unless the price is out of this world.
