Dick - he was talking about Adrian of Annaconda Coins - not Aidan Work.

Sorry, I misread it. I saw the "create lots of drama" and only came to one conclusion.

Some of the best folks are booted from coin forums, to be sure.

I was just released from the penalty box here, merely for stating the truth. That was non-centsical (not a typo).

Darn. My fault folks. I was talking Adrian (Anaconda) and Brandon.
I'm thinking the major was too. I'll be more clear in the future.

I did read the links on Frog and all I can say is, that's just wild.
There are just too many C's for me to keep track of.:rolling:

That tiny spec is barely enough to overlook every other thing pointing to NOT the same coin. #1 they are not the same size specs on each coin. #2 they are not in the same exact spot.

Brandon is good at lofty descriptions.

For my money (not), it is slime green.

That's funny, we all thought you got a 5 minute major for trolling.

    Here is proof.

correct, Adrian Crane was a Dallas lawyer who fell in love with toned coins and began dealing on the side. He hired Brandon Kelley to do his web images (Brandon is extrordinary in what he can do with a camera and a monster toned coin) and they were in business for a number of years before Adrian "retired" to Costa Rica.

As an aside, I object to calling his images "juiced" since that implies manipulation of the image after it is taken (usually with photoshop or a similar program), and I don't believe Brandon does that. He is an expert at lighting and is able to photograph coins to their full advantage. With a toned coin we all know it looks different from different angles and Brandon takes his photos so that you can see the most advantageous angles, which is what a toning collector wants/needs. I have found his images to be very accurate over the years.

You nailed it. I agree 100%. Brandon is one of the best.
He posted about this years ago on CU. The only time he made adjustments was when the image did not match the coin. His goal was to make them match.
I don't recall anyone that bought one of his coins (Adrians coins) saying the images were juiced. I don't think I have ever read a bad word about the man.

Since I may have been the one who first mentioned that the photo looked juiced, I will gladly take the word of the Cave Troll and Larry that Brandon doesn't juice photos. I have seen him post over at CU and I agree that he seems like a stand-up guy and seems to be well-liked by those that have dealt with him.
Having said that, if the photo is not juiced, I stand by my earlier thought that this coin would probably not slab at PCGS or for that matter, NGC, today. Nor do I care for the look, which looks plain out of place on a Buffalo.
I keep coming back to this thread thinking someone is going to find out from Brandon whether the two photos are of the same coin. Maybe we will never know...

I forgot to ask him about it. I have to admit, it isn't high on my priority list.

They sure look like different coins to me.

Maybe the same photographer, but not the same coin.

No, not same coin. I suspect it is from the same Dr./source though. ;)

I just found this thread. Nobody emailed or contacted me about it or I would have responded sooner. They are NOT the same coin. If I believe correctly, the other lime/pink toned buffalo proof was in an old NGC fattie holder. This coin was bought from 900 fine at the TNA show here in Ft. Worth, TX. If you haven't seen their coins yet, look them up. Great eye. I've bought several from them over the past year or so including the 1803 bust half currently listed on our website. Some may have questions of the authenticity of the color of the buffalo nickel but judging by the age of the holder, it has not changed in over 3 years. Also, I have seen other buffalo nickels toned in a pastel shade. This one happens to be part of the lime band of the pastel spectrum. This is quite rare, which is what attracted me to it. If you don't like the color, then ignore it. All of these allegations of it being AT or ugly are simply opinions based on what that collector likes. I don't bash white coins because they are boring and probably dipped at some point. I try to make the picture look like the coin in-hand. Obviously, I try to get the best angle when I photograph a coin just as a collector enjoys their coins at the best angle when they view them. You can look at any coin in a dark room or in bad lighting and they'll look different than they do in lighting intended to bring out what someone that appreciates the coin will view the coin in. I try to produce the latter.
