This medal was submitted at FUN for NCS conservation and grading by NGC. It's on its way back to me now, and I would like to know what you think it will grade from my "Before" photos. Have fun! Chris
For me, it was. I've had this for 7 or 8 years. It was in a bulk lot of coins and medals I purchased from a local resident. It was in its original, satin-lined presentation case (not even protected by an AirTite) in the original box with a booklet telling about the 13-medal series that was being produced for the U.S. Capitol Historical Society. This medal was struck in silver and was authorized by Congress to be struck at the Philadelphia Mint on behalf of the USCHS. According to the Director of the Historical Society, it was the only one of the 13 medals that was produced by the Philadelphia Mint. The other 12 were contracted to a private mint. Unfortunately, he had no record of the mintage, but I imagine it could be obtained from Mint records. Chris
Well, I got it from the PO today, but I can't seem to get any decent photos of it. For the record, it was graded PF66 Ultra Cameo. Chris
By the way, I did learn one more thing about the medal as a result of NGC's research. It was designed by Frank Gasparro. Chris
