I posted this in a different sub-form already but wanted to expand the feedback possibilities since I sincerely believe this DDO variety is as yet undocumented anywhere. Please see the photos and let me know what you think. Maybe someone here has seen this DDO before and can provide more info.
Looks legit to me from the photos you taken..Send it to James Wiles 1490 Trail View Lane Frisco, TX 75034 Jameswiles@sbcglobal.net Mr Wiles belongs to CONECA: http://conecaonline.org/content/coneca_attributers.html / Cost you $5 if not a member or $4 if you are and return postage, from there send it to ANACS or would PCGS or NGC be better in this case
CONECA's magazine It looks like the 1971-S DDO depicted on the cover of the Jan/Feb 2011 ErrorScope magazine. There is an article written about the coin by Jeff Yitalo & it is described as "fantastic hub doubling on the obverse face" and listed in the CONECA Varieties Master Listing as PR-2-O-II-E+V-CW. Your coin may be different but I cannot tell from the photos.
Searched 8 rolls of "ocean view" quarters. Two distinct types. One with double thick leaves on the left side of the two tallest trees ( 2 found ), the other with what appears to be MD leaves in the same spot, just fully developed leaves..not just stamped edges. Any thoughts??
You obviously have found a 71S Doubled Die...you should try to attribute it using the descriptions from the CONECA Master Listings. James Wiles has moved the listings to http://www.varietyvista.com/, you can find them there. Larry Nienaber
updated photos I never got around to submitting this to James Wiles, so I thought I'd try to update the photos before I part with this coin.
