Grading from Pics Contest rules
Contest is open to Cointalk member with minimum 20 posts
All interested contestants must post in this thread the phrase
“You can’t grade coins from pictures but I can” before
Midnight Thursday
January 27th.
I plan to start the contest Friday evening Jan 28th

 

Hm , I didn't read it that way. I'm not sure everyone else did either .

 

I think the problem is that the rules were described very clearly in the original thread, but the first post of THIS thread didn't refer back to that one. So anybody who saw this thread, but missed the first one, would surely be confused.

 

Well that explains it, I never saw the first post to begin with, and this one made absolutely no reference to it at all .

 

Correct. since this is the first contest I have run, I may have missed a few things. But there was a pre sign up period that ended prior to the beginning of this thread. Sorry for the confusion.

Same coins there EyeEatWheaties. The round ends tommorrow and hopefully I will have the next round ready shortly after or Thursday at the latest.

Round 1 Actual Grades
I am really surprised that more people didn't call this one AU. The coin in hand looks like it has quite a bit of friction, maybe even some hairlines from a cleaning. But

This one I bought raw and figured it had a good shot at 65FS maybe even 66FS, but I was pretty disapointed

And finally the dime that stumped the crowd. Although the strike is a little weak, I think that the toning made this one difficult. Or NGC got it wrong.

Well thanks again for those participating. Baha will be along soon with the official scoring and standing. Meanwhile I'll get the pics up for round 2 and link them to this thread.
