I'm hoping the bank near my college has more halves next friday when I get my check. I'd order a box but I'm afraid enough searching rolls on campus haha...

Congrats Erin. It is crazy to think that we used to be about the same and now you have doubled me. You have really had the luck the last 6 months. Great find today. I was only able to go to one bank today, a small town bank an hour from Houston (near where my son was in a wrestling tournament). 9 bucks....skunk. I have done quite well, but do not have the luck of Erin. :)

I bought some stuff online recently and they just got to my house yesterday (but I'm in NYC this weekend so I can't see them), and included in this are 2 rolls of Wheats...I know its kind of cheating for this roll searching thing lol but I'm hoping that out of the two rolls of wheats maybe something extra nice will be hidden in there haha

I'll be going through them when I get home...so that'll be around 9pm eastern...oh the anticipationnnnn

I'm guessing you bought the rolls of ebay or something?

    Typically they're very well searched.

  8. Wow, a 1917-s in a roll is quite a nice find! I've only found one teen in a roll (1914). That's quite a few Canadians in there. I usually find 5 tops per box

One from ebay and one from a coin website...the one from the other website came as part of a package including a gold plated buffalo nickel, some BU Sacajawea dollars, state quarters, and a couple other BU coins, a few proofs, and a couple folders...thought it would be a good start to try to get a variety of coins

Half searching yesterday I did $180 in rolls from a box and skunked, about $15 in loose halves and skunked, Got two CWR's from a bank (the were wrapped in computer paper instead of rolls and taped all to bits) and I got: 1-1964 90% and 1-1967 40% that looks flawless.

Finished a box of nickels (dunbar for the first/last time) got:
    1-1936F buffalo
    9- from the 1940's
    8- from the 1950's

Also, What does TD bank stand for? Thought it was "the dump" but I don't think I'm correct and there aren't any banks I can think of with those initials.

TD Bank is the name of a bank here in the NE with a ton of branches in the Philly area. It was originally Commerce bank in my local area, then TD bought them out... They've gone downhill since then.

TD, IIRC, stands for Toronto Dominion.

Lastly, F is not a mintmark on the Buffalo, that's the engravers initial. The mintmark is on the reverse, under the FIVE CENTS. If there is none, it's a Philly coin.

Really? That was the only coin that I found that was needed for my wheat penny book. I usually find around 10-20 wheats per box but they are mostly 40's-50's. As far as canadians go probably about 15-20 per box.

Did a box of Pennies this weekend.

Found 25 Wheats, 3 Canadians, and 3 that I needed for my book:
    1926
    1935-D
1950 (this is probably the best looking wheat I've pulled out of rolls so far

I need to search some Dimes soon and find some more Silver. Would love to search Halves but they are such a hassle to get ordered, and lug around, and it seems people aren't having very good results anymore.

Thanks Merc. I guess that's why I was in the dark as far as what TD meant. None around here, which leads me to thin that anyone searching TD bank rolls has it harder than I do, (unless I'm mistaken and they use some system like brinks for their boxes.) I knew that buffalo was nothing special, but didn't even thin of the F to be initials. I didn't really look into it since it had 4 lets and was in average shape at best. Thanks again for the info!

TD has actually been very good to me, almost all of my posts you see in this thread (I'd guess about 75%) are courtesy of TD Bank.

Found a sealed Mint roll of 2009-P halves! Also got two post-2001 halves and two 73-Ds. My dump-off bank has a coin counting machine so I don't worry about having $200 in coins sitting around.

Two banks that say they have halves give me machine-wrapped ones in yellow paper, and I don't find anything good in them-- is it safe to assume I won't find silver in those? Another bank gives me hand-wrapped ones but there's a black marker mark on all of the wrappers so I'm thinking they've been searched?

The marker on the wrappers could just be where the bank employee crossed out the depositor's account number. I have had luck with machine wrapped rolls, just not recently.

Hit my usual gas stations this weekend and found 1996 ASE, 2 '64 dimes, and a 71 Ike (not silver). Lately, the gas stations have had better stuff than any boxes I've picked up.
