while that is true, coinman, the value of learning to grade from pics comes in very handy when trying to assess coins that you want to buy on the internet where an in-hand examination is unavailable
Morgan Dollar: MS 63 due to numerous bag marks Jefferson nickel MS 65 steps look very nice but would need a loupe to be sure. 6 full steps are very scarce on a 40-d thou. Rosie Dime MS 64 looks like a weak strike to me.
Mike hit it on the head. Collecting coins and buying coins today means needing to learn how to assess coins both in hand and in pictures. Hopefully this will help some learn/hone this skill and help them in the future.
Ok so I have a question for the contestants. Mikenoodle edited his post two minutes after his original post to correct his spelling and add commentary. The main reason I put the no editing rule was so that people wouldn't change their grade after seeing others posting different grades. And nobody else posted grades between the time that Mike originally posted and then edited. I don't want anyone to think I am showing any favoritism so my question to you is should I let Mikes grades stand or should he be penalized the 5 points? Majority rules. Thanks
I vote he not be penalized. The "edit" wasn't in his original "grading" post but in a commentary regarding something posted. Not like he went in and changed his grades. No harm, no foul in my book....
I'll suggest to use this as fair warning that if editing occurs going forward contestants will be penalized.
I personally could care if the see another vote. What difference does it make if the see one more or less vote. If they are that interested, all they have to do is wait - and that can only delay things.
I don't think he's the kind of person that would try to take advantage of editing posts and changing grades. I say don't penalize, maybe just some community service or probation?
Tar and feather I say! In all seriousness I don't think he was trying to cheat and there is no need for a penalty. In a contest like this someone cheating is only doing themselves a disservice. On with the fun, I'm ready for some more coins to grade!
I'd let it stand... it's my feeling that if someone want's to change thier grade after posting, that's fine... it takes a lot of the who's gonna go first out of the equation and ballances the ability to see other posts across all players,,,, essentially putting the first poster (who sees no posts) on the same footing as the last poster (who sees them all)... anyway, I vote that all edits be allowed up to the time the grades are posted,, and edits after that time = severe punishment.
