First, i wanna give a quick background so u dont think i bought this off ebay from some guy in China. i just bought 6k pennies from some older guy a few weeks ago. Great gems came out of it, truly unsearched ones for a change. few days ago he said he had more stuff so i met him at his house today. bags of indian heads, rolls of wheaties and buff nickels.. i bought everything. among these was this penny.

    tell me its real?

didn't you say it came from an older gentleman, and you picked up IHCs and Buffs as well?
How about a few pics of your other finds...

From what I see, it looks like you got yourself a nice genuine VF SVDB there!:thumb:

Take a peek at this thread. http://www.cointalk.com/t78043/ It should help you figure it out. Take a close look at your VDB. Not that I am saying anything I can see is wrong, but you picture gets fuzzy on the "B" side.

Unless you can find a dealer to work with you, I would be surprised if you could get it for less than $50. You are about correct for the grading alone, but there is shipping both ways at a minimum of about $15 each way. Unless the dealer can work with you to combine coin in the shipping, that is what you will have to pay.

The 1909-S VDB Lincoln cent is one of the most counterfeited/altered of all US coins, so it should be examined especially closely to make sure it's real.

Create an accout on-line with ANACS and send it to them. Run you $28 I believe. I sent in a single mule not long ago and the total including verification was $38. Why go through a dealer if there is no need to ? IMHO

    ANACS:
    $19 for the $500-$2000 tier +
    $5 fee per coin +
$25 return shipping; 1 coin at approx $1k value =
    $49

I guess I got lucky then ? What I sent is a rare error of unknown value because fewer than 12 are known and no records of sales exist. Their own pop report listed 3 total with only one other being graded as high as mine. Lucky twice ? lol

Hi guys. Wish I could be here more. Had these figures in front of me. I have two of this coin in to PCGS right now that I posted in past threads. I'll try to post the results when they come back.

There are three ways to going PCGS. If you pay $129 you get 4 coins graded free but end up paying $45 each after shipping. If you pay $199 you get 8 coins graded free and end up paying $33 after shipping. Just an option to ANACS.

So you're telling me it's going to cost $300+ just to send in 4 coins?! jeez.

Go to the PCGS website. What he is talking about is the different membership levels and I "believe he meant $45.00 shipping for the four not 45.00 for each. This also allows you to keep submitting with quarterly grading specials and whatnot. I always submit for myself as the only dealer within driving distance charges a lot of money and is not a fan of TPG's. If you have a dealer you trust it sure wouldn't hurt to get their opinion before submitting.

    Congrats on the find!
