When the First Spouse medals came out, I thought I would collect them as a companion for the president Dollars. At that time they were cheap. The first few I think I paid about $3.50 each. Then the came out with an annual package of all four for $12.50. The first couple of years I waited until the 4 pack came out to but a little cheaper. I began to notice that people began collecting the annual packs and were being sold for a premium. Guess I should not have cut open mine and put them in an albulm. A while back I read an article about the Abigale Adams having a few released with the reverse of Louisa Adams.
I knew I had the Abigale medal, but never got up to check. Today I was doing some house cleaning with my coin collection and remembered the article. When I checked the Medal , lo and behold, both Abigale and Louisa have the same reverse! WoW, I never find anything like that. Well, this long winded tale has to end somewhere.

OK Guys, what is it worth? Saw on Ebay a couple being offered between $500-$750. Those were certified MS63 and MS64. Mine is just carefully plucked from the album and placed in an AirTite.

    Thoughts, good or bad.

    Thanks, Mike

    WOW!! Beautiful coin! ...congrats!! :hail:

I wasn't lucky enough to find one, I paid $300 for mine and still feel I got a good deal. I collect both the bronze and gold First Spouse coins and "had" to have the mule!

I wish I knew how many 2007 FS Abigail Adams coins were struck and how many were "mules". If anyone knows...please post!

Nice find for sure Sonlarson. I also collect the Spouse Bronze Medals but lacked the luck in receiving one. Congrats on your good fortune....:)

I would be interested to know how many of the 2007 coins were minted. I'm thinking it was about 10,000 each. It's tough to find a 2007 set for less than $100 today...without the mule.

Any serious FS collector has to have the Mule in their collection!

Cool. My set just had the correct version so I didn't get a mule. But wow, I didn't realize the 2007 set was worth around $100 now... score!

On slabbed spouse medals: Personally, I will never buy another PCGS spouse medal sight unseen; NGC's have always been what I expected from the grade (so far!) I'll post some comparisons when I have the time. My Abby/Louisa mule is NGC 67.

Took almost 3 months to get this back from NGC. Came back MS68 RD. Much better than I expected. I don't know the Pop. #, and I don't have access to NGC status, so if someone out there can get that for me I would appreciate it.

Right now NGC says it graded no 68 mules and only one 67 mule but I know of at least 3 67s so I don't think it's current.

Well, we know there is at least 1 MS68. Thanks, kinda makes it special.
