Early 2011 Unc/Proof Release

  1. I will go out on a limb and choose A. I think the 2010 silver proof set will be declared a sell out very soon. ;) TC

Trust me, they did. However, as I recall, the earlier issue sold out (were pulled?) very quickly.......

I believe you! ...I just can't recall the details.

The reason I started this thread was to highlight that there might be a "chance" the 2010 Silver Proof Set could sell out with a very low mintage :hail: and CT folks might what to get them now if they planned to get them at all.

...or the Mint could continued selling the 2010 sets (as they would have you believe) throughout 2011. They might...but at the same price ($56.95)? ...while they're trying to sell the 2011 sets for $11 more? ...I think NOT!

...but if they raised the 2010 sets to $67.95, who would buy them?

What to do? What to do? ...interesting.

I posed this same question on the Mint News Blog and this is what they said...pretty much what everyone else is predicting...

    Question...

I think they'll continue to sell the 2010 sets at the same price. They're already made and just sitting on a shelf so the price of silver isn't going to affect them. I think the earlier sales of the 2011 sets will hurt sales of the 2010 sets plus the fact that they would have had to stop making them sooner than normal to start ramping up for the 2011's which might result in a lower mintage?

OK...so I think we're all in agreement that the Mint has "X" number of 2010 Silver Proof sets (produced when silver was less expensive) sitting on a shelf somewhere and they will continue to be sold at $56.95 throughout 2011...or until they're gone.

The interesting question is..."X = what?" (I'm hoping it's a very low number!)

    X=(Y{ 3x+4})x 3300
Don't know what that means(never good in algebra) but I'll probably pick up a couple of 2010 silver sets sets just to hold when the uncirculated sets come out.

I think I might just pickup a second set of the 2010 before they actually are Sold Out . Quite frankly, I was truly impressed with the quality of the set I have already received and hope I'm fortunate enough for the 2011 set.

I might pick up a few more, too. I'm thinking...first year of the ATB series...possible low mintage...it could be 1999 all over again!

That would be a great windfall .

  13. Let's see if the 2010 silver proof sets sell out before noon tomorrow. ;) TC

Meant to post earlier today , but forgot. My set's arrived today , and I am very pleased with them. Every single coin , is absolutely, flawless proof condition . Now if only the Silver Proof Set's follow with equal quality . I think the increased Mint cost's for these Silver Proof Sets will have an tremendous impact on over-all Sales .

WOW! That would really be something if they did! :hail:

I can't beleive they would make more 2010 sets now that they're making the 2011...and especially not at the 2010 price! Most likely, they have about another 100,000 sets sitting in a warehouse somewhere and will continue selling them until they're all gone.

Now if only their warehouse would catch fire...

I suspect "sales" of these may catch fire. Look for a quick sellout.

Well, there they are! ...2011 silver proof sets selling for $67.95 along side the 2010 silver proof sets @ $56.95. I'll post up the first week's sales number when they come in...should be interesting.

Interesting . I'm still toying with the idea of buying a few more 2010's before they sell out.

I got ten (10) more sets myself! I like the designs of the ATB quarters better than the 50 States quarters (I like the Vicksburg design best so far!). I wish I could do the 5 ouncers also, but I haven't been able to secure a set. yet.

If the 2010 Silver Proof sets sell out with a low mintage, that would be great! However, I suspect they have a bunch of these sets sitting in a warehouse somewhere. That's why I bought ten (10) of the 2011 sets today.

One of two (2) things will definately happen (imo)...either the 2010 sets will sell out with a low mintage or the lower price of the 2010 sets will drive down sales of the 2011 sets...which are guaranteed to sellout by December 31st.
