"Jefferson Nickel Missing Nickel Clad" on eBay

    That's how the eBay seller describes his "error" nickel.

    Beautiful 2008P Jefferson Nickel Missing Nickel Clad

    This is an excellent example of "a little knowledge can be dangerous".

    As we all (hopefully) know, US Nickels have always been 75% copper / 25% nickel (except for War Nickels). That alloy is uniform throughout the coin.

    The eBay seller must think nickels are clad. Here is his description:

    "and will shurly add" And who is this shurly he is referring to? She probably ran off with the clad layer. And banged up those full steps

    No link to the auction? Surely, it can't be because you don't want anyone else bidding, so you can cash in on this super, ultra, mega, rare error where 25% of the 25% nickel plating is missing off the nickel? :D

    Its funny his description says double struck in collar double die. Sounds like he meant machine doubling:D
