Got a chance to pick this one up for $200. I am a novice with peace dollars so let me know what you think.

Are those Obv. marks between the hair and eyes on the coin? If so, I wound save my $$ for a better specimen if I were you.

Just tell me the "war paint" on Liberty is reflection off the 2x2.....:)

Well it's a $400 coin if not damaged, so I'd want it authenicated for sure. Despite the problems, $200 is a good price if it's genuine.

I would agree...if your goal is to finish out a collection for your personal enjoyment. However, this is also the Key date of the series which makes it an investment coin.

I would recommend working with a trusted dealer (if you know one) and buy the highest quality specimen you can afford. In the long run, you'll be glad you did!

I had many of the same thoughts. $200 is just a great price. both major flaws are just bad pictures. The scratches on the obv are the 2x2 plastic and the "paint" is a reflection off the 2x2.
