Hi, new here. I really like ID'ing coins but I can't quite figure this one out. I don't know if this is a monetary coin or a commemorative, but I believe it's monetary. There is a very small amount of arabic-looking letters on it. Can anyone tell me where this is from?
Arabics can be tough, you just have to know the crests. Lion with sword and sunburst is Iran. Palm tree and crossed swords is Saudi. etc. Soviet states are the same way. I use Don's Coin Identifier to help me sometimes. Glad to help. You can have the next one ikandiggit!
found the year it's 1968 according to the wee, teeny 4 digits at the top. Had to use a hand-held microscope. Thanks again! Love this site already.
The date is actually at the bottom on the reverse, in your photo you have the reverse upside down. cool find. Welcome to the site, the folks here truly posess a wealth of information on all coins.
i don't know about the states but over here iranian coins usually end up in the bargain bin unless they are pre war or silver and gold.
