Well today my 2011 ASE's showed up so I added one to my Dansco album. I see that the album now has 31 of these to include the 2006W,2007W,2008W and the 2008w rev of 2007. Some are starting to tone nicely.
Nice...when you broke up the 2006 20th anniversary set to get the 2006 W, what did you do with the reverse proof? Does it need a home?
You're one up on me. I have the same set, but haven't filled the 11 spot yet. It's a beautiful thing! You're lucky! I am contemplating expanding to the proofs too, but haven't sold myself on it just yet. That 1995-w will be a bear!
I was thinking about the Proof also, but like you said the 1995-W is a stopper. I may say I've seen some for under 3 grand.... well maybe some day
You had me thinking about the 2006-W ASE see below: 2006 American Silver Eagle The 2006 Silver Eagle marked the twentieth anniversary for the popular bullion and collector coin series. The United States Mint issued the standard bullion version of the coin and the collectible proof version. This year they also introduced a second collectible version of the coin and offered special sets to celebrate the anniversary. The bullion version of the coin experienced a higher mintage as the price of silver continued to rise. The bullion 2006 Silver Eagle had a final mintage of 10,676,522. This represented the third time that the annual mintage exceeded the 10 million mark and the second highest total to date, although it would later be overshadowed by the higher mintages of 2008 and beyond. The collector versions of the coin included the 2006 Proof Silver Eagle released early in the year, and the 2006-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle released late in the year. The proof coins were struck at the West Point Mint with the “W” mint mark and featured a cameo proof finish. They were offered with an unlimited mintage and priced at $27.95 each. The newly introduced collectible uncirculated coins were struck on specially burnished blanks with a finish similar to the bullion coins. To further distinguish the collectible version, it also carried the “W” mint mark for mintage at the West Point Mint. These coins were offered individually for $19.95 each. On August 30, 2006, the United States Mint began sales of the special 20th Anniversary Silver Eagle Set. This set contained one proof, one uncirculated, and one reverse proof Silver Eagle to mark the anniversary of the series. The sets were offered at $100 each with a maximum production of 250,000 set. This amount sold out in approximately two weeks. For collectors of certified Silver Eagles, perfect graded proof coins in both NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo and PCGS PR70DCAM are readily available. The 2006-W coins are readily available in NGC MS70 but tougher in PCGS MS 70. The bullion version of the coins are abundant in NGC MS 70, but scarce in PCGS MS70. The overall average price of silver during 2005 was $11.54 per ounce, representing a significant rise from the prior year. By the way I do have the 20TH Ann. set all PCGS 69's plus the OGP....would I sell might if the right offer came along
I went to my local dealer on Saturday to pickup a few 2011 Silver Eagles, but he was closed. I'll go back next week. I liked your comment that they are starting to tone nicely. Very nice collection! I have been accumulating the NGC PF69 proofs in the slabs. I recently took them out to look at them and noticed that several were starting to show signs of toning. I was disappointed, because I like the bright polished finish. I suppose that I shouldn't be surprised that twenty year old silver will show signs of toning even in a slab.
That is a very nice set of ASE's! That is the first time I have ever seen a 2008W reverse of 2007 in a Dansco and not in it's original mint capsule or TPG slab. TC
When these were first decovered I bought 2.....one raw which you see in album and the other was a NGC MS69 which I recently sold
I order 2 of everything from the mint every year... In 08 I got one of each, regular and variety, from the mint. Both went right into my Dansco, but I didn't make up pretty labels, yet anyway.
