Doing by instinct as always. Posting my grade and not so much what I think the TPG did.

Lol... no need to be condescending, I guess I misunderstood your ratios... rather than it being (Amount Correct)/(Amount Attempted) I'm guessing you did (Amount Incorrect)/(Amount Attempted)? Forgive me for assuming that a higher ratio means a higher level of accuracy...

I have only been involved in about half a dozen of these threads, but I think your pics are very good.
I feel like I get closer to actual grade when I do NOT read what folks are saying about the coin before I vote.
When I read first, I get too involved in thinking about this scratch and that nick, and lose sight of 1st impressions and eye appeal,
both of which I believe should weigh heavily in grading a coin. If you overlook what your first thought was, or the overall eye appeal, you get too wrapped up in over analyzing each little mark. I am not saying the marks should be ignored, but if eye appeal is good, you should take them into account a bit less than if the coin is ugly... My .02...

Thank you for posting these threads.
    I am learning alot!

I think you make some very good points.

Personally, I make it a point to NOT look at anyone else's responses before guessing. I also grade them very quickly. I'd say in less than 15 seconds. Glance at obverse, think about my grade, then check reverse to be sure there's nothing there that is problematic at obverse grade, then guess.

I do nearly the same,, maybe 1 or 2 minutes per coin however. And I look at both the small pic and then the larger pic... where the smaller is the best "in hand and luster" view I think, and the larger exposes the coin for technical grading.... and never 'ever' read what anyone posts before grading... it's just too much fun to drop a land mine here and there.. lol.

thanks and you too (@.36) !
Lots of luck+1 on my side.. lol.

Really a super series of threads by RLM's,, and pictures too ! I always felt confident grading G to AU, but often broke in the AU to MS63, and then was very rough within MS63-70.
This exercise has really help me grade, by picture, & in hand.... Looking forward to seeing RLM's next 100 threads.

    Cheers ;)
