Post an Ike

This one put a smile on my face and that feeling like
we used to get when we were a kid and we found that
one very cool coin. I still get that feeling every time
I look at it.

I posted one just like that and was told it wasn't a double die, but Mechanical doubling. But I didn't think so.

If yours has the split serifs on the lettering in
"In God We Trust" I would say that it is a doubled die
I do not remember seeing the one you posted.
On what page in the "Post an Ike" Thread is it
on. This has grown into quite a large thread.

I can't answer that, or if it was even in a another thread. I think it was in another thread.

 

It's neither a proof obverse nor reverse die. It could possibly be a rejected proof planchet used in the business strike presses. It's important to note that some of these coins do have incredible surfaces.

 

Man that is alot of die polish.

Today was looking at some coins that I acquired earlier this year. One is a $1.00 1971s proof. It turns out to be the "Peg Leg" variety. I should look closer to all the ones I have acquired lately. -O) I think I paid less than $15.00.
