I don't have a standard catalog for the 17th century and would appreciate some help identifying. Is this a km#619 2-Pence? It has been cleaned but what detail graded? It is about 3-1/2 cm across and 1/3 a cm in thickness. Weight is 27 grams. I found this in a bag of world coins that I have been searching. Thank you
Are you referencing the Soho mint in Birmingham? If so it is the first coin that used a steam powered coin press. Interesting, Thanks
Carwheel penny and two pence were something new indeed. This is interesting... http://www.currencyhelp.net/british-cartwheel-penny.html
yes i can concur it is a cartwheel penny from 1797 struck by matthew boulton at the soho mint in birmingham, and your question is??
From original post: answer appears to be no, it is not a two pence but rather a penny. I have no idea on how to grade this coin except that I understand rim bump normally occur and this coin does not have any. Thank you
