I probably get 95% from Dunbar but my experiences have been about the same between Brinks and Dunbar

For the record, the only Brinks boxes I don't like are halves. They're clutch for everything else around here.

Question to silver half vets: If I've got roughly 10 40% halves and 5 90%'ers, what can I expect to get at a coin show next saturday (in terms of what prices times face value)? I may have more by then, but I figured if I could sell them there and get more than I would on eBay, I might as well do it. Anyone got some advice for me? I'm guessing anywhere from 15-18x face? What should I settle for...

Unfortunately, I arrived too late to buy any roll off of him; he dumped almost all of his coins into the machine. After the steel pennies kept getting rejected, he took them and threw them into the "Take a Penny" tray. I looked at the wrappers he threw away, and he overlooked a 1951-D that was stuck at the bottom of the wrapper.

Well, I guess I had a huge slight of beginners luck. I bought $20 in halfs, the only half rolls in my town actually since no one carries them, all have to be ordered (Which I may do tomorrow) I got 4- 40% and 1 90% in the same roll. The other roll was all bicentennials.
Can a bank order any amount or does it have to be the $500 box. How do you go about getting rid of $500 in halfs?

I cash my halves in at TD Bank, they have a free counting machine.

My $150 in Ikes have no bids with three days left.

Just dump at a different branch. They have about 15 branches within 15 miles of me (No lie, lol) so I dump at four of them and the rest are free game for pickups.

Yeah, well. I guess for only two rolls 5 silvers is pretty good. Hoping to be able to order a box tomorrow. How long does ordering a box take?
Just curious. Thanks. I have a meeting with the vault manager and hope to make it very clear what I am looking for to make my job easier. Think that is a wise idea or should I keep it a secret?
Thanks. I really want to get the best results I can, being slightly poor. I cannot afford to buy large amounts of boxes. :(

I don't have a lotta money to work with... it's good to be clear, but DO NOT MENTION THE WORD SILVER. Just tell them you're a collector and you're looking for nice, high-end pieces to fill your collection with. If you're old enough, mention you have kids or something... they eat that **** up.

Boxes usually take anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks... just get them to order on a schedule for you.

The Ikes that I have sold on ebay don't usually bid up till the very end. The $150 start may be a bit high. Good luck.

Stopped at four banks today. Total of 27 Ikes and two 40% halves out of about $30 in CRW and loose.

    Ike's

Hey Merc.....I like Ike......wish i had discovered this thread earlier. I could probably offer more $ than what you would get from fleebay after charges.

1-2 weeks? I suppose I have to pay at time of order? Okay. I got it all figured out. Say I am new to collecting coins, and some older seasoned coin collectors recommended that I start with half dollars since they have the most overall collectablity value, or something along those lines.
Aside from half, which other coin should I look into ordering on a regular basis or is the half pretty much the best of them all in terms of silver content (I love the way they look. I am a glutton for shiny stuff)
Anyway. Thanks. Hopefully I can get on good terms with the vault manager, I will make it clear that I will not, at any time drop off those coins I do not want to the bank.

You pay when they arrive, not when they're ordered.

Oh, that is fantastic. That works so much better. I will definatley have them order a box then. I have a few no name banks in my area that I have not checked. So in the mean time I can cycle through those. Hopefully tomorrow will bring good news.

I have about 100 Ike's if your interested.

    Road trip day one results:

    380 miles covered
2 hours spent in traffic jams
    36 CWR
    2 40%
    3 NIFC
    1 77 Proof
    Nothing from the tellers

Here's hopping my results tomorrow are better. At least I'll only be logging around 200 miles tomorrow.

    $70 in CWR found 2 40% and 1 1964 , better than buying a box just to find 1 40% :D
