Well I have not been on this site for about 5 months. I left after a few members were trying to stir up trouble with me and instead of backfiring at them I just left!! Well I hope the dust cleared and I finally decided to start posting here again. Well Heritage had some nice coins up for auction. I bid on a coin and never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought I would have win. The coin has an NGC Retail of $9810 so I put a bid of $2472.50 or about 25% of retail. Well I wasn't going to be home during the live event so I hoped my bid would hold up. Well I got home to find out I won the coin for $2185 Link :hail: The same coin sold for $6325 on Aug 21st 2004. So here it is 1951 Roosevelt NGC PF68 Ultra Cameo Pop 3/1 only 8 graded in the UC Level. and the next day I was able to pickup 3 more upgrades for my collection!! This 1950-1964 is turning out to be a very expensive set!!
Your right!! It sucks when a seller send there whole collection to auction house to get sold at the same time. Only 2 of the Roosevelt's sold for more than I thought they would. By selling them all at the same time, it seems like they all end up going for lower prices. I still had a lot of bidding room left but no one bid against me.
Jaime you're way tooooo modest. You failed to mention that you are now 1st place on the NGC Registry. I wanted to be the first to compliment you - that is a serious, high-level accomplishment. I've got to say that the '51 is the real monster coin. The chance to own a coin like that at any price only comes around a few times in a lifetime of collecting. Congratulations!!!!
Thanks......I was actually surprised when I added the 1951 that it put me into first place!! I never thought I would be #1 in such a big set. PS.....I still want the 1955 & 1956 in PF69UC!!
Jaime, Welcome back to Cointalk. Those are some incredible coins. I really hope that people understand how nice your collection really is and how hard it is to reach the top spot in any category on either the NGC or PCGS registry. It is an incredible accomplishment achieved only by the relentless pursuance of excellence by a very knowledgeable and passionate collector. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention that your collection was 1 of the only 5 awarded the BEST MODERN REGISTRY SET by NGC. And that award was earned before the addition of these four coins. Congratulations my friend and it is nice to have you back posting again. I think your next goal should be to have your entire collection photographed by whomever imaged the 1955 PF69* CAMEO. A number 1 set deserves to be seen in all it's splendor.
Thanks Paul!! I was planning on having all of my coin photoed by robec. He is the one that did my 1955 and many other toned coins. He always do a awesome job!! I would also like to work on my description before next years deadline.
