Yeah, best box of war nickels for me yet, I pulled 4 once last like, October or so. Still don't have a goddamn '43-D, though, it's KILLING me. I know I found one searching last year, but can't find it anywhere, so that hole in my album sits empty, haha.

In regards to the silver quarters, I've found a few here and there, but it's certainly uncommon, at best. Everything else has given me better ratios.

Was killing time last Tuesday and stopped by a local "big" bank. I got $70 worth of halves and 23 of them were 40%ers. Woot!

Awesome box, Merc! I've not found a single D war nickel yet. I've only done 5 boxes though. Most I've got from a single box has been 2. Been at least one in every box except for one and that box had two buffaloes in there to make up for it.

Vast, vast majority of what I've found is '43-P's. 24 of 'em, haha. About half of the total war nicks I've found.

During two of my nickel hunts last month, each box contained four War Nickels. The latter of the two contained a '43-D with Full Steps and a '45-D with one or two steps intact. That same box also yielded three Buffalos ('17-S, '25, and '34). The D War Nickels are out there, they'll come your way eventually (I went through probably 5 or 6 boxes before I found mine).

My problem is I'm about 20 minutes south of Philadelphia, so the density of Philadelphia-minted coinage in general is huge around here.

EDIT: I'm stuck working in the office all week here so I'll be searching quite a bit through Friday.

Just curious, what's special about the Minnesota quarters? I was only aware of the Wisconsin high/low leaf errors on state quarter.

    On topic: 5 64's and 6 40%-ers, good box

$200 CWR of halves, or so I thought, this afternoon -- turns out 5 of the rolls were short, so not only was I skunked on silver/proofs/NIFC, I'm out $3.50.

I'm going to have a little talk with this bank about the "nice old lady who's been bringing in halves that she's saved for years."

EDIT: I actually had a talk with my daughter, who had searched some of the rolls on her own initiative and hadn't topped off the rolls she picked from. :) She's still just looking for "shiny", but I'll be working on refining her skills...

I walked into a bank today and ask for the usual halves and ikes... the teller opens the drawer and I can see the first three halves shinning back at me. He grabs the other halves but says "I'll give you one of the silvers". He gave me the 64, cool, and kept the two 40%'s for himself. They were real nice ones. It was cool he gave up the one without a fight. Later, I thought I should make him an offer on the others but did not. Don't know if he could make a deal at work or not, anyway? Stop number two got me 3 ikes.

Skunked on the box of quarters. (what a surprise)
    Nickels
    42 & 43S
    27 Buffalo
    Dimes
    61 & 62D

Gonna go get a box of halves today that I "should" have got yesterday. Maybe couple other boxes too.

Try customer wrapped rolls of quarters next time. I went through $290 worth last week and found two silvers (1934 and 1951).

I searched through $500 in quarter rolls today ($410 CWR, $90 Fed-wrapped) and got one 1964. I also found four Canadians, and the most interesting coin found was a 1970 Five New Pence coin from England.

I also did a box of nickels today and found a '44-P, two Bermudas, two Canadians, and 27 pre-'60 Jeffersons. This is the first time in a while that I didn't find even one Buffalo.

I didn't find this in a roll, but I managed to spot an '83-S Kennedy proof out of a teller's tray. I traded in two loose quarters for it. Two proofs in two days, amazing.

    Box of dimes today.....shutout.

I know a lot of you have luck with dimes, but here is my all time record for dime boxes, in order, most recent one first:
    0
    1
    0
    0
    1
    0
    0
3 (customer wrapped rolls, all other boxes are bank wrapped)
    0
    0
    1
    1

All the finds are Roosies (I've never found a Merc). I have had much better luck when buying a $1000 bag of dimes (never been shutout) finding 39 Roosies in 8 bags. I just don't think I'll get a box of dimes again any time soon.

Even one is better than zero when you have nothing else.
