I was wonder what everyone thinks about this subject considering that the design with Washington is well over the 25 years old needed for a change
and that Theodore Roosevelt has never been on a circulating coin.
And his close ties to the National Parks System which is going to grace the reverse of the quarter for quite some to to come.
    Just an idea.

It has been talked about and suggested many times ever since the National Parks quarters were auhorized. The CCAC even recommended it but it isn't going to happen. Even if they did an aboutface right now and decide to do it they wouldn't be able to do so before the production of the quarters has to begin. (Frankly I don't see how they are going to be able to get the reverse designs created, reviewed, selected, and engraved in time. Typically the mint says they need 18 months to create a new design. Currently they have two months to create six. Five quarters and one cent.

You definitely got my vote & the National Parks coins would've been the best place to add Teddy to a circulating coin :thumb:

I would rather see an animal or bird on the obverse. How about something from American nature like a turkey, bear, or wolf.

If they will do it, they should have done it with the first in the national park series.

Completely agreed. Although of all the presidents, Teddy would be the most fitting for ATB quarters. I feel we should rethink our coinage with creativity and downright beauty, which cannot be achieved by putting more dead presidents on our coinage. No disrespect to any or them, but since 1909 all circulating coin designs except one have been converted to dead presidents... and Franklin would have been president had he been twenty years younger. I know some of you will say there's more than one, but really, dollar coins do not count because they don't really circulate.

I'll drink to that one. Look at Canada's Nickel for example. Simple, well designed, and no political affiliation.

Well, there is political affiliation. We've got a queen on the obverse of all our coins.

Your having issues with the founder of are nation being on the quarter? Seriously?
I had to take a double take at the thread title! I think puting a progressive like TR on the quarter would absolutely bury the program. Now putting him on food stamps might be fitting.

Yeah, Give it up. There's no reason to get political here. We're just talkin' Teddy R. not Adlolf H. Teddy Roosevelt should be honored on a coin for public circulation. Why not?

I have no Issue what so ever with George Washington one of the founding fathers on the
    Quarter .
I was just thinking one day that we have had this obverse design since 1932
and was tossing around an idea what people thought about something
or someone different. Since the National Parks Quarter reverses were coming out
I thought it might be cool for the President who founded the National Park System
to be on the obverse. That is just the first one that came to mind that day :)
I deal enough with politics in daily life, I try not to interject them into my chosen
hobby which is my relaxation from that world.

No the Q was replacing Washington with TR, and I say heck no!!! I understand the pic is getting a little old, but hey why not change Washington's photo like on the Jefferson Nickel lately... I kind of dig the Washington Dollar!
