This is my first major show, and compared to other local shows I've been to, I'd consider it a very busy day for the dealers considering it's weekday. I met alot of dealers, and members of currecy forums I subscribe to, and was able to put a face with the name. I had the pleasure to meet and speak with, (in no particular order) Willie & Billy Baeder of USA Rare, John Spinelli of CGA Notes, Alex Delatola of APD Currency, Jess Lipka, Eddie & Angie Henley of Unlimited Currency, Scott Lindquist co-author of the Standard Guide to Small-Size U.S.Paper Currency, Greg Muselli of Rare Star Notes, Sergio Sanchez, and many of the fine staff of PMG, PCGS, and Heritage Auction Galleries. My passion is 1963 thru current Star Notes, and serial number 00000012........so, this is my BEST pick-up for the day, courtesy of Billy @ USA Rare. I've been drooling over this notes for months.

Steve, What a wonderful first day you had! Congrats on that $100 12*! A most excellent pick up for your collection. I'm so envious of the encounters you mentioned and all the fun you must be having at FUN... and it's even in your own backyard! :smile

Here I am watching a band of snow move up the coast for the city, again! :(

If you are there on Saturday, go to the SPMC meeting at 8:30 and IBNS at 10:00. You will meet lots of paper money enthusiasts at these meetings.

That is the coolest star note I have seen in a while. Star coupled with that serial is totally drool-worthy. Congrats on your new pick up!

First time I've ever attended a coin show. Attended the NGC luncheon and spent about three hours altogether browsing around, Here's a couple of notes I picked up.

I was at the luncheon, too! I was the first one to ask a question (about the Hong Kong office) when the Q&A began. You weren't by any chance, the person who asked the difference between an altered note and a repaired note, were you? I don't collect paper money. Seated at the table with me were Shane (aka Kryptonitecomics) and Jason (aka Physics-fan3.14).

Good food - the nice lady sitting next to me brought back a piece of that apple/bread pudding stuff -yummy! Interesting to hear about the whole China Market. Wasn't me asking about the altered notes - I was at the table directly behind the grader that answered it. I picked up the 1928 from from Mike Ezell who was super helpful. The name of the other dealer escapes me. Mike took about 15 minutes to give me some good pointers - I'd buy from him again. I was there to see the paper money and started off at the wrong side of the show - quite a bit to take in. Looking forward to next show to attend. Also looking forward to learning from the good folks around here. I have to give thanks (I think? - $$$$ ) to RickieB for posting images of his notes out here - that's what got me really interested in paper money. Semper Fi - Doug

    Doug,

If you live in Florida, you might want to check out the dates for the Collectorama Show in Lakeland. It's a semiannual show, and I believe the next one should be coming in April or so. Sarasota also has a pretty good show. Neither are as big as FUN, but there are usually more than 100 dealers.

    Doug,

Rick still reads threads and chimes in from time to time, but he doesn't post as much as before. Not sure if you saw this thread or not: July 1, 2010 my life was changed...

A large part of his stunning collection was actually being sold in the Heritage Auctions at FUN: The " R.D. Bradley Collection" Heritage Auction (F.U.N Show)

RickieB has been a tremendous inspiration to me too. :thumb:

The Collectorama Show in Lakeland has been educational for me the last couple times I have attended. Altho dominated by the round metal discs, there is some currency to view/buy, and I like getting second opinions concerning some of the currency I take. I will be attending either Friday or Saturday, and look forward to going.
