NBC Dateline did a show 'To Catch a Con Man' journalist/reporter Chris Hanson lured a few of these guys into undercover camera encounters to challenge them on their scams. The show was airing this past weekend on MSNBC.

This story is believable and does actually happen.

As far as that goes the OP could have told a true story. He really messed up when he told how many houses he managed to build with his profits. I actually took the time to do the math on that one and it just wasn't possible.

In the meantime I'd love to hear about the collection and I'm sure we'd all like pics. Start another thread for it though! ;)

Maybe this is getting a touch too philosophical now, but I think some Aunties may also be Grannies...

Unless of course, Aunty had a beard. Then she'd be my Uncle.....

I really doubt that I would get the chance to photo them. LOL All she wants me to do is tell her about how much she can get. And actually, I doubt she will sell them anyway. She doesn't need money. It's more likely she wants some attention. She just turned 97, and still lives on her own.

But, If I get a chance, I am gonna hold one of those CC's in my very own hand ! LOL For a minute or two anyway

I have been saying this from the start of this thread...or at least some time in the middle.... a good buddy of mine collected over his lifetime a roll of 16D's and sold them to a large national dealer several years ago. To listen to his story is really neat how they flew this guy in to view his roll. He made out really well but he certainly didn't make the money to buy multiple houses and stuff. It was a nice chunk into his retirement savings account that allowed him to retire much earlier than expected.

For those of you who know me, you all know that I don't bs around...at least not too much! :kewl: This stuff happens probably more often than is actually reported....and for obvious reasons.

BTW, nearly all the 16d's were in fine condition with one or two in the vf range and one or two in the vg range.....his story not mine.

indeed this thread will never die...lol. i couldnt even read it all. has pupa shown back up more than once, or are we the driving force of this thread? and by the way, 18 houses would not be from the original sale price of the dimes, that would have been invested. im no expert and dont know how much that roll could have sold for, but i wonder if that amount invested could possibly have made that much money in so little time.
