40%ers are 65 - 70. Some look like 90%ers from the side, but most do not. Nearly all of them look very different than a clad, but a few look very much like a clad. They each sound differently (clad, 40%ers, and 90%ers). Silver Proofs from the 90s forward are 90% silver.

only found $4 of halves today, nuthin, so I got 12 rolls of dimes.....nuthin.

From 92 on proofs are 90% silver and I believe have an S Mint mark. 75-76 proof were a 40% clad with I believe an S mint mark also.

 

Three boxes of halves today along with three CWR's. The CWR's were skunks but I did score a 40%er at my drop bank.

Here's hoping I don't have skunk boxes eight, nine, and ten.

And the bicentennials came with 40% on SOME of the proofs (s mint)....

 

I found a '76 40% proof about a month back in a teller tray. Killer find, and beautiful coin.

 

Could someone tell me the posts to look at concerning searching 1971+ half dollars? Are there any post 1970 half dollars worth collecting and what ones they are.

Damn 3 boxes in one day? How many do you do a week? Save some silver for the rest of hahaa!

 

Although I got skunked on the halves, quarters & dimes, I found a 2006 dime that was suitable to replace the one in my set. (existing one had a bag mark, new one was MS), I found a 73 cent with doubling on the 9. I sent the pics and am hoping it is a good one. I cannot find the die, so hope it could be a discovery piece. Wish me luck. gary

What would be the more lucrative in that list to look for? Perhaps I could start by looking for one or two as all the variations seem to boggle my mind. Thanks.

 

I only do three a week, thinking about jumping it to four. It just happens that both of my pickup banks get the boxes in on Wednesday

Finished a good box today. I found my oldest half to date in this box! 1918-D Walking Liberty. The coin has a slight bend to it and it's not in the best condition but I'll take it.

Nice second box! I get four today, my first of the new year and am guardedly optimistic. I need more 90s as my ratio is running over 5/1 40s/90s in my first two months of this new hobby/obsession. Had a dream (isn't it funny how many people have mentioned dreaming of boxes lately) that I had crappy boxes. :-(

 

Did two boxes of halves yesterday, only got 1-40% to show for it. 4 more boxes coming tomorrow.

 

My bank has clear wrapped rolls of all five 2010 park qtrs . They would only let me have two rolls of each one would anyone like to swap p for d ?

My g/f pulled my first and only walker out of my first box, like the tenth roll of my new hobby! So I too am still waiting to find my first one too.
