canadian notes have 1 number less than american, so how does that affect fancy serial numbers? i have a $130 handful that i want to know keep or spend. first, i have this type (how many zeros make a low serial?) 0080489 this one is same but mixed consecutive numbers (sort of) 0057687 second, what makes a repeater? i have 2 that i am not sure 5214521 5809809 and 2 consecutives that i found interesting, but not real repeaters unless you count 51 5195185 5195184 thirdly, any name for this one? (crossover count?) 6443335 and lastly, any value to high serials? 9927713 please let me know as i will have to spend some, but dont want to spend the good ones (if there are any) ty.
Scrambled numbers with fancy names have no premium value. Usually, they are the creation of ebay sellers to make potential buyers think it's valuable when in reality it's just a common serial number. Low numbers are under 100: Radars, repeaters and rotators should be visually evident: radar/repeater: radar: rotator: High numbers start with three or more nines. I don't know of anyone that collects them.
diggit to the rescue again. thank you for the explanations along with detailed pics. i hope the info here will benefit others too, as i have trouble finding this info for non us notes. i would like to ask a few questions though if that is alright? the 6443335... would it be a keeper if it were 3334456? or is only a single digit ladder worth it? (3456789)? now the repeaters..(please bear with me) for US notes 12341234 would be a repeater correct? if so, then would a CDN 1234123 still be considered a repeater, or would it read more like 1231231? or does the last "1" wreck it. that is what has me confused. my 5214521 is two repeating numbers with a 4 in between . if it had 8 digits and followed by another 4, it would count right? my 5809809 is two repeating numbers with a 5 to start. are we limited to 2 number repeaters because we only use 7 digits? lol, by the way, on a side note, i had your repeaters buddy the other day. i dont remember the letters, but the serial was 1414142. i accidentally spent it, but im guessing the 2 killed this one anyways.
Ladders would be something like - ascending - 1234567; 2345678 etc. or descending 8765432 etc. Multiples of individual numbers don't count. 1234123 would be considered a repeater because theoretically the 4 could be the next number. However, 1231231 would be more desirable. 5214521 is a repeater but because it's mixed numbers, it just isn't appealing. Eye appeal plays a large part in the value of the notes. Also, condition should be considered. I leave a lot of radars in the till because this. Unless they're binary, or ladders or an interesting combination, I don't bother with them. I'll try to find the census of the number of radars, repeaters and rotators in any given series and you'll see why some are more valuable than others. I'll post it later this evening. Keep hunting, the good ones show up when you're least expecting them!
