Wow, here we are at page 600!

Found two halves, clad, at the first bank this afternoon. None at the second. One loose, clad, at the third, but then another teller flagged me down -- he had 15 CWR's of them. I bought four, searched them in the car; all clad, not even any nice AU's. I decided not to get the rest.

Stopped for groceries on the way home, and asked at the customer service counter. Nothing in the till. I thanked the CSR and started to walk away, and she said "Just a minute" -- she was checking the other till. "Oh, here." *Clink*. *Clink* *clink*.

    11 loose halves, all 40%'ers. :)

I'm guessing that (a) these were CoinStar rejects, and (b) there are employees who know to check for pre-1965 stuff but not the 40% coins. As I told my new favorite CSR, "I'll keep asking."

Just did a bag of cents. Decent amount of copper, I'd guess about 15-20 bucks face. Bunch of wheats, earliest was only 1940. But two were AU, RB. 54 and 55. Also pulled 3 RD '60's all in MS, 1 BU. About 15 Canadians as well, most were 1960's, though, curiously.

Did four boxes of halves today, 2 40s and 3 proofs. Are proofs worth keeping? They sure are pretty! Oh the proofs were 88, 85, and 90.

Yesterday, two banks = 5 loose halves... nothing. Today, $70 in CWR and loose... nothing.

    Good find!

Finished Brinks box six and El-Skunko. Changed my ordering around to a bank that is using Gardia. Hope this brings better luck.

Went to a couple of banks to get some half dollar rolls and no one had any, nor will they order some. Guess I'm now SOL. Then again, haven't come across any silver for months in searching half rolls. I'll move towards dimes and stay with nickels (which I've found a decent amount of silver believe it or not). I'll also pick up any loose halves bank tellers may have.

If you collect the president dollars, your bank should have rolls in uncirculated form. They're more than happy to sell them to you. lol. This is how I get my Ps, unfortunately I have to hunt for Ds in circulation, which is a pain, but did come across several Abe D's this past week.

Nah.... I do it for fun, don't want to buy a roll, my daughter gets a kick out of it too. My album only has one pocket per coin anyway. Still haven't found the Pierce D either, but that's the only other one I'm missing in my Circulated set!

Nickels seem to be a slow and steady, yet consistent, medium for me also. Did another box today and got 2 silvers, im up to 12 now

    Moonshine ....................

Ending the year on a good note!

I stopped at 2 of my dump banks on my walk to work this morning. After getting rid of the last $240 from my most recent box (no silver, 1 NIFC :( ) I decided I was going to stop at a bank that I don't have an account at but they often have a box of halves on hand. Before I realized it I was a block past the bank. I checked my watch and saw that I was already running late but decided to backtrack anyway. When I got there the teller said they did in fact have bank rolls of halves so I bought $80 worth. In the past I've gotten questioned about having an account with them if I ask for $100's worth.

I get to work and start cracking them open. Out of 8 rolls I got the following:

    1964, 1965, 1967, 1967, 1968d, 1969d, 1969d (1 90% and 6 40%) and a 2009d.

Nice! Of course the next thing that pops into my head is "must...go...back." I throw my jacket on and grab my backpack and hope no ones notices me leaving the office at 9 AM. I get to the bank and the teller says she has 14 rolls left.

Got back to work and from the 14 rolls I got the following:

    1966, 1966, 1967, 1967, 1967, 1968d, 1969d, 1969d (8 40%)

    So out of 22 rolls I got: 1 NIFC, 1 90% and 14 40%

Nice way to end the year. Happy New Year to all my fellow roll hunters and I hope 2011 brings you much silver and key dates!

Found 2 Unc 1963 nickels. I consider that kind of lucky because of the 179 million mintage.

LOL Erin. Yep.....we need to go dump all of these a couple of states over.

THANKS for letting me know about the Wells Fargo on 626...I sometimes stop by there but wont for now.

I did a box yesterday, and found: da ta da daw, 1 40%er. I think the only reason it was there was because from the edge, it looked like a clad. But since I look at every coin, I saw that it was a 1968. For halves, if you just look at the edge, you might miss one.

So, Erin, you now have the record!

It is pitiful how bad boxes are in are area right now.....

    4 boxes of halves:
    Box 1: skunk
    Box 2: 1-Ben, 15-40% (one ender)
    Box 3: 2-40%
    Box 4: skunk

And that's all she wrote for 2010.

Here's my year-end numbers for y'all to digest; these don't include my teller tray finds... so only boxes, bags and CWR.

Dimes; $26,520.50 searched. 44 Mercs, 226 roosies found. One in every hundred dollars was silver. It totals to approximately 19.52 troy oz of silver, which, at current spot ($30.85), is $602.22 worth in silver dimes. Biggest single box score was 19 Mercs and 8 Roosies in a $250 box. Best bag score was 60 silver Roosies in a $635 bag.

    Halves; $35,867.00 searched. 6 Walkers, 10 Franklins, 19 1964's, 149 40%'s found. One half in every $200 was silver. Totals approximately 34.7 troy oz, valued at $1,070.35. Best box was 1 Walker, 1 1964, and 12 40%'s. Best bag was 2 Bens and 11 40%'s in $150.

Nickels; $3,926.00 searched. 1 v-nickel, 55 buffalo nickels, and 46 war nickels. One war nickel per $85.35, one buff nickel per $71.30. The war nickels total out to 2.59 oz of silver, which is $79.90 melt value. Best war nickel box was 4 war nickels, and best war nickel bag was 5 war nickels in $135. Best buffalo box was 16 buffalos, honorable mention to a box 2 days earlier that had 14.

Quarters; $6,502.00 searched. 7 silver Washington's found. One quarter every $928.75 was silver. 2.53 troy oz total, with a melt value of $78.09. All were distributed as the lone silver in the box.
