Mine would have to be my first early copper for my type collection. It's an 1794 Half Cent, Normal Head, C4-a graded PCGS F-15.
that is a lovely half cent. between half cent designs i find the half cent draped bust dull but the half cent liberty caps are amazing and that is a keeper!
2010 was a lousy year for me. Been sick for a lot of it and other crappy stuff. And, I hardly was able to add to the collections at all. This was my favorite coin, Hamburg 1765 4 shillings. Sometime I'll have to edit the scans to make them look better (give it a black background) but for now this'll have to do. And this note was one of only three I bought in the entire year, but it's probably the best one in my collection! If it wasn't for a tiny crease on the margin and that one black mark, I would not have been able to afford this one, and even so, it was double what I had ever paid for a single note before.
Seller photos. Mine would be less than desirable. I bought this on a whim and it ended up being one of my favorite coins.
My cousin called me today and said that he had a buddy that had a silver dollar he wanted me to look at. I rolled over there and it was an 1891 O Morgan. the kid said that it was worth face value to him. After that it was hard not to freak out, but i maintained my composure. I examined it pretty colse to determine it was VF-20 cond. I asked him what he wanted, and he said "I really need a pack of smokes and no one will bum me the money, so i'll take $6.50 for it." I asked him if he was sure, then handed him the cash. To my astonishment, he whipped out another coin. It was a 1960 D Franklin half! I did a quick scan of it, asked him what he wanted for that one. He said make him an offer, so i said $1, and he agreed. I payed him that dollar and hit the road with my 2 newest additions. That would be my be my favorite purchase of the year. I haven't taken pics yet, but had to share! Is that not cool?!
My Favorite $$$ Since the price of Silver has gone up over 70% since I bought these I would have to say that these are my favorite purchase in 2010. I also feel that these are very pretty coins.
My two favorite coin purchases for 2010 were a 1927 Peace dollar and a 1972 Type 2 Ike dollar. I targeted these coins at the beginning of the year and patiently waited for the right price/grade. In 2011, I will be searching high and low for acing: :secret: :smile TC
Bill, you did really well considering, I would be happy to own either of these! TC, not fair keeping secrets Love the peace dollar. and Dave, I'd say your timing was pretty good! Congrats to all!
Man, all you guys got some really neat stuff ! All I did was grab a 1938 D Jefferson that completed a set through '64. Filled the last empty hole. lol Now I can look for other stuff. gary
strangely enough my favourite purchse of 2010 came near the very end of the year, the 2011 UK proof set, the 50p and the mary rose £2 coins are really beautiful coins.
Well, here's my baby. I wasn't going to buy it as it was a little too expensive, but sure glad I did! I can't help but adore it when I look through the Franklin Half binder... Not best pic of obverse, but it works...
