...Interesting. I remember having those rolls for penny searching and so that was never really applicable... for silver coins though. Hmm, seems logical, but I think I'd spend the extra minutes searching by hand. Are you searching for silver, or do you also look for errors/anomalies? Depends on that I suppose.

Looking for silver only. My eyes aren't good enough to find the errors to I stopped frustrating myself with that awhile back.

I go through once quick and pull the obvious silvers.

Second run through is a closer look at each roll and also a dump out of each roll. I've probably caught 10+ silver dimes that I've missed over the hundreds I've found.

I bought 360 dollars of US halves, rolled. Some of the rolls themselves that the address on the front from a store in Chicago did not have a zip code...it said Chicago 40. Out of the 360, I'd say about 80 dollars was 65-69. I got one 60, one 63, one 53, and I already had a 1941... Then I started finding what has to be proofs. The oldest on that one was 1973. I am new to this, less than two years. I also got some that do not look like the ones I believe to be proofs, but still so shiny and in excellent condition. Those dates range from 1973-2008. Should I go to a coin dealer, or sell all this as 'junk silver'?

With dimes, I also look for 2009 (lower mintage) and 2010, so I break open ones that look new as well just look for silver.

In $5 of Canadian cents I found 4 wheats, 1 US dime, and half of the coins were 98% copper. Good searchin!

2 boxes of nickels equated to 3 silver nickels, 1 horribly battered 1928 buffalo, and an AU/MS 1940 specimen I plan on keeping just for the heck of it

30 dollars in nickels and 50 in dimes and i came up with what i believe to be a 2006 P dime with a cud around the eyebrow making him look like he has caterpillar brows lol. i need to find a camera so i can post and get second thoughts. I also sent one of my friends out to his bank to get me some half dollars. hopefully they turn up something fun

Just some things to keep in mind/advice:
-'Cud' (as I recently came to understand it) requires the die break to connect to the rim and to "blow past it;" in other words, the splotch needs to reach all the way to the edge of the coin (past the rim). Judging by the placement on your coin (you say it's near his eyebrows) it's probably not a cud, but another type of die break. Just helping you master the attribution process (I'm currently working on it too :p )
-In general you can quickly differentiate between PMD (post mint damage) which is usually worthless and die cracks/chips by examining whether the anomalous area in question is raised or depressed; raised naturally implies the addition of extra metal to the coin and generally indicates a die crack/chip, whereas 'indents' are more likely just dings/scratches that originated from some collisions after the piece was minted.

Keep us posted on those halves!

    $370 in CWR and zero.

I was able to score 3 64's and 1 67 from the teller at one of the banks so, not a total loss for the day.

    Welcome to CoinTalk!

Great finds! Check the ones that you think are proofs for the mintmark. If they are proofs they will have an 'S' mintmark.

If you are looking to sell, you can try ebay as well as your local coin dealer. This site is helpful:
    http://www.coinflation.com/silver_coin_values.html

Also, mintage levels of half dollars dropped dramatically (20 million vs 2 million) starting in 2001 so you may consider keeping the newer halves (referrred to as "NIFCs" (not issued for circulation)): http://www.bestcoin.com/kennedy-half-dollar-mintage.htm
