    So let's see it!

What was your favorite purchase of 2010?!

I'll start. 2010 was the year I started my Sower set, and this is probably my favorite coin out of the bunch. It may have a small amount of toning but in hand the colors really pop. (Something I hope to be able capture on my new camera in a few days!)

Favorite purchase of 2010 is probably this note, first large size note purchased for my St. Louis FRN district collection.
Heritage gave it a grade of: F/VF

2010 was a pretty good year for coins for me. I picked up alot of slot fillers I needed for my U.S. Type set & they were in grades I wanted. Recently the type set is on the back burner because I need more of the expensive stuff like a mid-high grade barber Half and alot of gold.

2010 also was the year I got into ancient coin collecting. As usual I figured it was a segment that was for the big boys to play with. Who would have thought you can own 2000+ year old coins for a $100 or much less. Also the amazing help and knowledge the CT ancient collectors share keeps me interested.

So because of the rich history ancients have and some with much better designs then most U.S. coins, I have decided to put my coin collecting budget into ancients and their related things like books and such.

I do feel my collection is off to a good start. I am pretty picky with what I buy. All of my ancient coins I have bought are in a gallery. It's pretty hard to choose but below are 2 I would put a favorite sticker on for 2010.

Im hoping in 2011 I can start getting more greeks. I only have 1 at the moment but when I find a greek I like I end up finding a better deal on a roman. I also hope I can pick up a few more slot fillers for my U.S. Type set but im not gonna go out of my.

I've had a number of favorite purchases this year because I have a number of collections on the go, ancients, paper money errors, world paper money, etc. ..... But I think if I had to narrow it down to just one, it would have to be this Upper Canada Bank Token. It's a gorgeous coin (token) with great detail and toning.

I would have to say I love this card the most and 2nd the large size note. I had a good year, still have a couple things coming, and 1 more item I may pick up, so I feel pretty lucky with all of my new acquisitions!

    Best Regards ~ Darryl

Oh and I can't forget this banknote that I got for face out of the till. So far, the only inverted serial number on a Canadian Journey series banknote ever found:

Congratulations to ALL of you!!! Very Nice. My numismatic accomplishment, not near as grand, I finished assembling my Silver Proof Statehood Quarters Set. The great part, with the help of my 16 year old daughter, I think we have her hooked on our GREAT hobby! :) :) :)
    Happy New Year everyone!
