Nice christmas gift! Especially the '18s, cool!

A while back I found these in one CWR. It looks like somebody decided they didn't want their old Canadians anymore. I said I'll take them.:)

one of my christmas gifts was a box of nickels, i searched and found 3 silver nickels AND my FIRST EVER Buffalo (from circulation). 1935, and what looks like VF-30/XF-40; needless to say I was really happy to see an old buffalo in some contemporary change!

So 2 boxes of dimes were skunks, ugh... Box of nickels did give up 2 silvers and what looks like a dateless S-mint Buffy.

Finished a box of cents I had laying around, got a hole-filling '28-D and not much else of note.

Not a roll find either, but my aunt gave me my grandpa's old coins (most of which he obtained while in WWII). Most were foreign and of no value, but there were 2 Peace Dollars ('22 & '23), 1 1942 mercury dime, and one 1910 liberty nickel. Also, among the mix were 10 Ikes.

got bored and headed to the bank today with my little black gym back to get some coins. Anything worth anything let me know soon because i plan to take all but the 50's and 40's back to the bank tommorow.

I found $180 in CWR of Halves at one bank: one blast white 1964 :)
I found $16.50 in CWR and loose at another bank: 2 40%ers.

I hit the teller trays for halves after someone suggested it (thanks!) got $6.50 in halves one of which was a 40%!

Also: Box of nickels: 2 buffalo's. 1 was 1930, the other was dateless but still neat even though worn. Kept a few older dates like 38, a few 40's and 41's. I keep any before 60 just cause I like them and will roll to give to my grandkids (I'm 25 so by then they'll be a little more scarce)

All this combined made for a good day! First box of nickels, 2 buffalo!!!

edit: I also found $180 in half rolls at a bank and skunked. Teller trays are pretty awesome!

Congrats on the double buffaloes... tough break that one is dateless but hey, that's nothing to complain about! Nice!

    Bob,

One of my sister's friends who works in the cash office keeps an eye out for us. She notified my sister when they came in a couple of days before Christmas and held them until we were able to swing by and pick them up. I have 2 banks that got some in that I will have to go pick up this week. One bank got $200 turned in by a customer but the teller that called said they are in the yellow wrappers from the FED so who knows if I will find anything. The other is $190 in CWR at a different bank but that one is a ways away and the teller is off Tuesday and Wednesday so I won't pick those up until this weekend probably if I can get out that way.

I need to start hitting the banks this week and handing out some of my new business cards to the tellers!

I'm quickly learning that tellers are our best friend. Finding a 40% half in $6.50 from trays and zip from $180 in rolls.... My tellers also told me they bag their own change from their counting machine and I could buy those if I wanted... small town and small town bank.... Might start doing that instead of boxes. They're getting some cookies this week...

Good luck on your halves, Aggie! and Thanks Cubenewb!

Nice find! I do love the teller trays, especially when they don't know what they have.

$320 in CWR's waiting to be picked up tomorrow and a brink box on Wednesday. Hope my streak continues with the CWR and I hope I break my streak on boxes, 4 skunks in a row.

    Question on dime searching.

I picked up my first box of dimes and they came in the clear roles. Do you guys break the roles open or just visually inspect them looking for silver?

I usually visually inspect first and then break them open. Sometimes there is that silver dime that doesn't look like silver from the edge due to tarnish or something...

when I get Brinks rolls, even if I'm getting dimes, I still open them just so I can further inspect them. You never know what you may get even if you quickly glance at the rolls from the outside.
