is that your coin listed at filipinonumismatist?. if that is the one. it looks like the coin is being clean. it's a fine to very fine piece. but i don't know if that one is 1918s mule. you can ask a dealer to find out for you. beside that. i don't sell my coins at this time. so i really don't know. try ebay.com (if you are in u.s.a.) or ebay.com.ph (if you are in the philippines).

and remember. if that coin is cleaned. it might only cost very much lower than the prices that i listed.

i'm very sure it is not cleaned because it suffers from dark toning...and some red shades (can't tell if its PVC) and for the link i gave..i'm just trying to give an example of my coin.Thank You!

If you read the post dates, you'll see that she hasn't been here in 8 months.

Forum rules prevent offers to buy or sell on the forum. If you are unfamiliar with the rules read them here. However, we do have a classifieds section where you can post wants.

There are some beautiful pictures in this thread, so I think it deserves a bump. Also - I greatly enjoyed the story about how the new coins were introduced into circulation!

I'm working on a powerpoint presentation on US Philippine coins - would it be okay if I use some of the pictures in this thread?

Also, I'm a bit vexed by the 1918 5 Centavo coin from the US Philippines. That year, there were several made with the obverse die from a 20 centavo early on, because the 5 centavo die didn't arrive with the initial shipment.

Today, those mule pieces (so named because they are the offspring of two unmatched dies, like a horse and a donkey produce a mule) command a pretty high premium.

The problem is that I can't figure out how to tell the mules apart from the normal 5 centavos. The coins are very similar in diameter (the type one 5 centavo was 21.3 mm and the type two 20 centavo was 23 mm) and have essentially the same pattern even though one is apparently 7% larger. I have two 1918S 5 centavos - how can I tell if they're mules or not?

Are there any diagnostics that you know of? I've seen these described as "small date" varieties, but that doesn't make sense to me because the date is on the reverse of the coin.

The mule is mentioned as a footnote on these sites:
