Coin dealer that graded for ICG, recently had a bunch of trouble with his coin business, just found out that he committed suicide. RIP fellow hobbyist :(

coins supposedly went missing in shipping and he left a lot of people without coins. So pretty much his reputation was ruined, and since coins were his life he had nothing to fall back on. I feel so bad for his wife and child, 3 damn days before christmas.....

    Has this been confirmed?

I'm sort of out of the loop on this one.

If true I am deeply saddened.

Very sad. Sorry it came to this. He leaves behind a wife and child as well.

Never should it come to this! We need to learn from his death. Damn man - this sucks!

This news comes as a shock to me. And that is an understatement. I knew Cameron from ANA Summer Seminar. He taught one of my grading courses. He was as nice a guy as you could meet and very easy going. It was amazing how much he knew about coins to be so young. One neat thing I remember about Cameron is he collected sample slabs.

I really can't believe it. I pray the report is wrong. If it is true it is a tragedy for his family - especially just days before Christmas - and a tremendous loss for the coin collecting community.

Pretty lousy thing to do when you have a wife and kid, especially just before Christmas...

I talked with Cam many times at FUN shows over the years....very good guy and dedicated numismatist. It's a shame things went south for him business wise but it just shows you how quickly things can go bad for someone in there life. I fell terrible for his family at this time and I wish that he could have reached out to other for help in his time of Need. I personally would have written him a check for $500 to try to help him dig out with no payback needed. You can't put a price on a life.....

OMG, I don't know what it is, but lets say 10 years ago if I read something like this, I could just skim over it, and it wouldn't phase me.
Today when I read this, my jaw dropped, and I started to choke up as I immediatley started thinking about his poor, poor family, and the extreme anxiety he must have experianced before resorting to this ultimate end. Not a word of a lie. I hope my coworker sitting across from me in this conference room didn't see it.
I dunno, maybe because I'm getting older now, and one becomes more emotional with age. I'd love to find out whats going on. Even seeing commercials with poor kids from African nations, or animals suffering on SPCA advertisements is starting to hit me.
I copied and 'binged' his name and the entire 1st page was about him and his numismatics involvement. He had so much reputation and experiance that he could have fallen back on to rescue him from this financial troubles.

I never got the chance to meet Cameron, but it is so sad that it had to come to something like this. Nothing is more precious than life, and I think that everyone should always remember and believe in it. Like Shane, there are many of us who might have been able to help with no regard for repayment if only Cameron had asked.

I would have helped him as well. He was a really cool guy. Many of us watched him grow up. I hope it's not true.
