Nevermind the serial number, According to the price tag on the upper corner, you paid $8.50? For a red seal $2 * note even in VF-20 retail is $16, i would say the grade is at least EF-40 which runs retail at $32. NICE pick up.

It's really worth that much? The shop I bought it at is run by a older guy who knows his stuff. He has an eagle eye, i'm surprised he didn't notice when he sold it to me.

Yep according to Whitman's the official red book "United States Currency: Large size, small size, and fractional" by kenneth Bressett (Great book!). I'm not a currency grading expert by no means, but looks almost uncirculated minus the corner fold, so EF-40 is a very fair price in my opinion. Their prices are a little bit inflated like the red book, but it's not as far off. I've seen some bills listed in the book go at auction for 2 or 3 times the price in the book...

I think you got a good deal! Maybe he got it at a good price and passed the good price down to you!

Too bad it's only redeemable at the Casino Royale....

Knowing those restrictions, I doubt you have any Quantum of Solace...

Your money might have been better spent on Gold- Fingers of chicken from KFC, even!

Are we looking at the same images?

I see vertical quarter-folds, a horizontal centerfold, very broad folds of both lower corners, some smudging on the back, and some ink on Jefferson's face. This is somewhere south of VF.

That doesn't make it a bad purchase--it's still a red-seal star note from a better series, after all!--but I'd say the sticker price is appropriate here.

Nice pickup. The BEP production figures list 640,000 stars printed for this series, but it appears that most of them were never needed due to the discontinuance of the red-seal $2's. So these are a good bit tougher than the 1963-plain stars, even though that series has the same star printage total listed.

I was going to show my ignorance by asking "Why James Bond?" but then I spotted the serial #. *007... Nice note whatever the price.

I have to agree with Numbers, this note is far from XF. To be an XF note, you can only have one noticable fold line and two slight folds and no more. Everything else about the note has to be flawless (or close to it). This note would grade VF, possibly low VF due to creases and the smudges. I would say book value is closer to $12-$15 due to it being a star from a nice series. If you paid sticker for it, you still made out. Congrats!
