    Heck, I could take it down cheaper than that -- a penny would probably do almost the same job. A few ounces of scrap steel would do even better.

    This is no joke. Something as small and light as a cigarette butt can damage a turbine. When I was in the AF smoking was prohibited within 500 feet of the flight line. Also matches and disposable lighters were not allowed because people dropped them, Zippo only.

    Spent many a morning walking the flightline in Misawa Japan looking for anything visable to the naked eye. Once saw an F-14 suck up a seagull on takeoff pretty impressive.

    I don't know why the image of that made me laugh. Maybe because there are so many sky rats where I live.
