i posted this 2 days ago but it appears to have disappeared without trace, i have to admit that i am not a great officianado regarding U.S banknotes and coins, can anyone please tell me about the rarity level and value of this banknote from hawaii..........
Your 1934A $5 Hawaiian FRN brown seal looks to be in VF20-25 range and the serial number puts it in the L66132001A-L69132000A print run of 3 million notes, which is the last & highest of the non-star notes printed. Condition plays a major part of the value. Check Heritage or eBay for completed auctions for the current selling prices. B/V is $75 to $125 depending on current trends.
thanks for that steve, another one i have is a pennsylvania 40 shillings which is in decent condition. but no matter how i try i can't get a good photo of it.
i will have another go at it, i bought it in kuala lumpar 6 years ago and to date it is the only one i have seen for sale.
This note appears to be taken from one of two other web sites... is this actually your note? and are those your web sites? if this is not your note then why are you using someone else's images? nauka.bg/forum/index.php?showtopic=398 (note appears approx a quarter of the way down the page and shows both sides of the 40 shillings note) eurorubl.narod.ru/baks/MyPhotos01.html (note appears near the bottom of the page) Do please explain...
krispy i didn't even know those web sites existed until you posted the links, i can assure you that the note in my photo is the one i bought for 11,900 ringit in kuala lumpar 6 years ago, whilst en route to australia from a shop near to my hotel. and for gods sake man the signature on my note isn't even the same as the ones in your links. i am sorry that you think that i have cheated, but i can assure you that cheating, or whatever is not in my personality and i would like you to now appologise for your slur on my charachter.
I don't know what you have done, whether you are a hack or not, although I will tell you I have seen others do this very thing on online forums, especially those related to numismatics. The Colonial note you posted is exactly as appears on those Russian web sites... the signatures and even the number on the note are the same. The image url/file name of the Colonial note you uploaded is even the same as the Colonial note I found on those two sites, that's how I found it, by searching the file name of the image you uploaded to CT... It may be you who owes this thread/forum an apology, especially since you seem oblivious to how blatant you ripped off someone else's bank note image file as though it were your own note. If it is your note and in your possession I don't know how it ended up on those sites and that you happened to use the same image file as they did... explain that in your so called inability to get a better photo of the note. Check the links I posted again, and here are screen shots from both sites for you to compare with the file you posted in post #6 of this thread:
For anyone interested, here is more information on the Colonial Currency of Pennsylvania - April 25 1776, with an example of a 40 shilling note for comparison. The note posted by the OP is very hard to see details to determine authenticity. Counterfeiting was rampant in Colonial America, just as it remains rampant in Asia today. The note could be be authentic based on the description given at the link for plate numbers and the visual look of the note, but the image is really too small for us to tell and I'm not expert at spotting fake Colonials. The image posted by the OP also appears to be finer than most that have sold, either certified or raw by Heritage, appearing in Auction archives. If the OP has this note and is seriously considering to submit the note to PCGS Currency for authentification, I hope he will post the results here when the note comes back.
Hmmm...interesting. I didn't dig deeper into this to see what you're stating krispy. If the note truly is that of the OP, maybe we're looking at a counterfeit. It is strange how the note is unable to be shown larger...
