And let me tell you why... I have tried for years to get them interested. It did not happen. I took them to local b&M stores, finding exciting examples of coins, which they could give a !!.. I tried to show 2 examples with one type of coin with a difference....meant nothing.. They only ever said, "is it silver"? ...or is it "gold"....never with year or mintmark.. They are hopeless...I have tried..they dont even say they need better understanding... it's not. They are hopeless..and will not get my coins. I would rather GIVE them away, than have them touch them.. so..I am selling every one on this bst.....
If they are still into video games, it may just be that they are still young I gave up video games the same year that I fell in love with coins, LOL when I was 28. There is always hope in the future!
You can't force them to care about numismatic history. I HATE kids myself ( if under 6--8 years old). I might feel differently if I had kids of my own ( I'm 47). You can't try to make them carbon copies of yourself, though ! Did your father turn you onto coins ? Not everybody is born into being a coin collector, don't force it. I guess I got into it because I like money ? Parents were supportful but never pushed me into it. It was my own interest as a kid. Maybe your kids prefer Soccer or something else ?
LAME! LAME! LAME! We've heard your spiel before! Stop being a menacing troll and can your bull talk... sell it or bury it and shut up already. I call your bluff! I'm truly thinking of burying it all....
Don't put yourself down. You can't expect them to have the same interests as you do. Maybe in the future they will get interested in coins or maybe they won't. Who cares. If you like it then enjoy it.
Video games have coins too! Super Mario Brothers!? I just wish I could have hit a question block and a 1909 S VDB came out...
Scrooge McDuck It appears you are always angry that your kids do not care about your coins during the Holiday Season... Maybe if you paid a little more attention to Santa for them and less about your Hoard.. Scrooge McDuck
If they don't want it, why not volunteer with foster kids and spark an interest inthem. They have vey little to begin with and they'll cherish the relationship and the coins more. Just a suggestion...
One must realize, that many of our youngsters today have no real sense of value, for anything. Having said that, I have met a few who could stand toe to toe with many knowledgeable collectors. Unfortunately, none belong to my siblings. One must have an appreciation for the study of history. I think the average teenager today, if asked could not tell you who the second president of the United States was.
Of course it does. My comment though was directed toward children in their early teens. But even some adults could not answer that question as well. It's one thing to not know the answer, and another to want to know the answer .
Great, I'm clearly too young to know about John Adams, Abbott and Costello, The Wizard of Oz or that the moon landing took place in 1969. I'm like an old man in a young guy's body.
