Im going to go with AU-58, but busted half dollars in my opinion are a bit tough to grade just from some pictures... Can you see the side? If so are there xxx's between the words or llll's between the words, or a normal busted half dollar edge? But without knowing the edge type the value will be between $1,200 and $2,000 in AU-58. The reason i'd grade it out as AU-58 is because it looks like there's a slight trace of wear on the hair by Liberty, but hard to tell from just pics.
I understand. I looked between all the words like the red book said and i didn't see xxxx of llll. I am bad with the photography part of coin collecting but i appreciate your review and any future reviews. Thank you
cleaned or not that is a darn nice piece! I have an 1836 half dollar that I have had for about 20 years that probably wouldn't grade a g-2 but what a wonderful piece of history.
I would go with the normal edge then, the xxxx edge and the llll edge are pretty obvious. I'd say worth about $1,200. Just out of curiousity how much did you pay for it?
I actually bought it in a collection from a lady that i paid $5000 for. I'm not big into being about to tell grades when it gets past vf. I think when i looked at it i paid $250. I wonder how many pictures i can post in 1 thread message. There are quite a few good looking coins i should put up here.
ANACS might grade it for you? But my guess is your buyer if you ever decide to sell is going to add it to an album or something of that sort. I'd keep it the way it is...
