Three wonderful places to visit - numismatically! There are three great places in Switzerland to visit for numismatic reasons: Your first stop should be Kleine Scheidegg. It's a high mountain pass situated at an elevation of 2061 meters. The name translates to English as Minor Watershed. Why visit? Because the Kliene Scheidegg Railway Station is located there. Here's a photo of the railway station at Kliene Scheidegg (courtesy of Wikipedia): KLIENE SCHEIDEGG RAILWAY STATION There are ample hotel accomodations at Kliene Scheidegg, but the numismatically important reason for visiting the pass is that one of the rack railways served by the train station is the Jungfraubahn which climbs steeply through tunnels inside the Eiger and Monch mountains up to its terminal at the Jungfraujoch where souvenir seekers and mountain climbers alike can enjoy the Jungfrau Mountain area for whatever reasons; photographing the scenery or embarking on the thrill of the climb. Zermatt is famed as a mountaineering and ski resort of the Swiss Alps especially for those wanting to conquer the famous Matterhorn. It is a municipality in the district of Maloja in the Swiss Canton of Graubunden. The highest summit in the Eastern Alps, the Piz Bernina, reaches skyward a few kilometres south of the town. Sure did. And you can now add a new piece which fits in nicely methinks: Earlier this year, Swissmint issued a 20 fr coin which shows the Bernina railway line and its loop near Brusio. Christian
