The silver alone in a Washington commemorative half is worth more than $8. Silver weight 0.36169 oz X $26.70 = $9.65

I love the Stone Mountain commemorative. If it is $70, then it should be in mint state or close to it, and if so, then it is a fair price.

I just hope they're not arriving in Siberia by way of China...

No it is not. My dealer got all of his American coins from Germany.

    Beautiful! Are these commemmoratives?

I especially like the OP pic of the eagle in mid flight. Awesome.

It looks like your Stone Mountain half dollar is probably Extra Fine 45, judging by the amount of wear on the eagle's breast and the leg of the horseman in the foreground (General Robert E. Lee). Someone else might grade it AU-50.

There were 700,000+ struck of the Booker T. Washington; 1,000,000+ struck of the Carver/Washington; 1,500,000+ struck of the Columbian Exposition and 2,200,000+ struck of the George Wasington. These are not low figures as far as commem mintages are concerned.

I'm thinking EF, too! Besides the wear, there is also the issue of the scratches on both the obverse and reverse. I think $75 was too much to pay for it.
