Cool ! I thought this thread was about anything that might be unique or something that would build your collection. I am constantly checking coins in rolls against those in my circulated sets. I upgrade all the time whenever I find something nicer. I think your 38 is a pretty good find. It's great when someone cashes in the change jar they had for 30 years and you get lucky enough to handle some of the coins.

Or maybe it can be about not finding anything at all ? I mean we all get skunked on boxes all the time. Learning of "finds" gives us all some encouragement.

    Thanks for sharing yours.

I feel like i have lost interest in searching rolls of coins besides halves since i have been bombarded with brand new 2010 coins that i have no interest in. I don't know what to do now!!

Is it worth my time to put up 2010 rolls of nickels and pennies on eBay to get rid of them? I got a box of new 2010 nickels OBW and cannot decide what to do with them. Either A: Take back to bank for money back or B: sell them on eBay for a premium.

If i sell on eBay i have to worry about shipping. I HATE shipping, every time i do it i always get screwed because i don't know what im doing or not getting the correct envelope (there's sooo many to choose from).

If i cash them in at the bank i am not loosing money nor am i making money, just breaking even.

Ryan- When I sell on eBay, I try to use US Postal Priority flat rate boxes\envelopes. You can use the small Priority flat rate boxes and the price is $4.95 no matter how much you stuff in the box. I pay the additional 70 cents for delivery confirmation out-of-pocket so the buyer can't say they didn't receive the package when they really did.

I recently sold a box of new unopened 2010 D Cent rolls on eBay. After the fees and postage and paypal were figured in, I think I made about 4 bucks. But I got scads of those rolls, more than I really want to search for errors, since I believe the liklihood of finding one is close to nil. But maybe another collector wants them ? I would rather pass them on, since it doesn't cost me anything than take them back to the bank. And no way will they go back unsearched. I mean what's the whole point here anyway ?

half.jpg halfs.jpg Picked up these 4 rolls of halves on the way home from work. Peeked in one roll and saw a 64'. I peeked in the second roll and saw another 64'. Third roll another 64' and the forth. After I pushed my eye balls back into their sockets I quickly drove home and gloated over four full rolls of 90%ers!!!!!!!!:D:D:D

Yes, keep all the bicentennial! That'll prevent them from making their way into the rolls I search, so I don't have to sort through them. Just kidding, of course. But seriously, they are only worth 50 cents and won't be worth more for at least 75 years (IMHO), in which time they'll be worth about 55 cents. They made sooooo many with respect to any other year. Good finds on the silver btw.

That is a VERY nice 1938 nickel.....great find, especially when it fills a whole in the album.

And Gypsy Tears.....I don't know what to say other than WOW. That is the biggest score in a long time for any of us. Congrats.

Woo Hoo! Thanks guys I am still basking in my glory over that find. My other bank that orders halves for me called me Thurs. and said their supplier was out of halfs. Could their inventory for halfs be that low? Are their that many searchers in my area? Has the Fed recalled all boxes to weigh them???

    GREAT score, Gypsy! Well done!

Stumbled into some blind luck myself this morning (though nowhere near that scale). Wasn't strictly "roll searching", but I figure it counts. :)

    Paid $18 for the following:

    14 Mercs
    21 Rosies
    6 Washingtons
    2 Walkers
    2 Frankies
    -------------
    $7 face of 90% :)

AND, as an added bonus, an unopened '65 SMS. :)

Did a quick Friday afternoon bank run.

First bank: 5 halves, all clad

    Second bank: nothing

Third: nothing. Helpful teller said they'd all been bought by people wanting to give them out as Halloween treats! He said they'd probably be ordering a box later in the month.

Fourth: "We've got one roll in the vault." They fished it out; CWR, all clad.

Fifth: "How many do you want? We've got two boxes in the vault." I asked for two rolls; they hemmed and hawed and consulted, then said that they couldn't actually retrieve them from the vault without advance notice. They said they were "from the Federal Reserve"; not sure how to interpret that. I'll think about whether I want to try a whole box.

Sixth: maybe a roll worth, all clad. They let me check before I bought, so I declined the coins, but thanked them graciously.

Seventh, my home bank: (opens drawer) "Well, we've got these twenty or thirty rolls, but they were all just turned in by someone who does the same thing you do." *sigh* Looks like it's time for me to start dumping there, too. (Besides, at least two of the tellers are silver-hunters themselves.)
